Rihanna’s New video “We found love” is SMOKING Hot! and when I say smoking I mean just that….
Our Cultural ambassador in her latest video production features several scenes where she is seen lighting up along with her new boxer boyfriend Dudley O’Shaughnessy sharing smokes.
And when I say “Smokes” I mean “SmokeS” in the most plural sense of the word.
There’s one scene where Rihanna’s boyfriend smokes not one or two but four cigarettes one time which Rihanna lovingly lights them for him, then he lovingly blows the second hand smoke into her mouth which she willingly receives, it was breathtakingly romantic. Somebody blowing smoke into your mouth has to take your breath away, once you don’t suffer from asthma.
The anti smokers campaigners are coming out saying the Rihanna video is glamorising smoking and they are right.
It symbolises a return to the golden era of movies back in the 50s where all the major movie stars were paid to smoke throughout all their movies.
“Actors from the golden age of Hollywood were paid thousands of dollars by tobacco companies to smoke and endorse their products.
“A study reveals how more than 200 stars, including matinee idols John Wayne, Joan Crawford, Clark Gable and Spencer Tracy, all benefited and one firm paid more than $3m (£1.6m) in today’s money in a year.”
After the deadly outcome of smoking became known it was a practice that was scaled down.
Some people see Rihanna’s cigarette touting as an innocuous activity, but you need to understand the American marketing machinery.
In today’s paper you see a picture of Rihanna wearing a Snuggie talking to talk show host Ellen.
The Snuggie makers would be beside themselves with joy as Rihanna wearing their product would be sure to influence the teen market to buy it. which is exactly the same reason you will see smoking being so glamorously embraced and endorsed in the new Rihanna video, because cigarette makers want to push up their sales to the teen market. Its just business.
As for the people who go on about “Rihanna Haters” if you don’t blatantly lap up everything Rihanna does. I like Rihanna bad but that dos nt mean every bad thing she does I must close my eyes and pretend I don’t see it because I love her so much.
I like Rihanna bad and she does bad things but I still accept her because sometimes we love bad things, U know U do too.
I believe Rihanna’s people deliberate put bad stuff in her videos to rile up people so then we talk about her like what is happening right now.
I will not focus on the other scenes in the video where her ass is marked “mine” by the man where people say she is portraying women as sex objects, nor focus on the popping pills endorsement scene nor the scene where she shoplifts. Next people would say I am a Rihanna hater, so I will close my eyes and pretend I didn’t see them.
Love the Song, I love the video, Love in the end how it tries to redeem itself even though it fails and I love Rihanna too, our self confessed “Good Girl Gone Bad”.
p.s; Loved the English Accent Lady Rihanna does in the beginning
*Note; John Wayne died of cancer in 1979,he had both stomach and lung cancer, any one for a smoke?

The lineup for the November 12 Honey Jam Barbados showcase was announced at a press conference November 1 at Divi Southwinds. Scroll down for pix and recap!
Show producer Ebonnie Rowe said she was excited about the lineup but the press conference took on a serious tone when she expressed that while there was no shortage of beautiful and extremely talented artists, that isn’t nearly enough to succeed and questioned just how prepared the artists are, stressing the importance of a strong work ethic.
“What will set you apart is the fire in your belly and one of my favourite c-words – COMMITMENT!! The talent is impressive, but it takes so much more than that and I’m concerned about whether some artists are ready for prime time. Many have the “I want to go to heaven but I don’t want to die” syndrome where people want to reap the rewards without doing what’s necessary to get there. You need to educate yourself in the business of music, know what songs best suit your voice, know what image you want to present, basics like having a website, at least 1 demo song, a professional photo, work with a voice and fitness trainer. As a society we must stop applauding mediocrity and be able to accept constructive criticism. Understand what excellence means on an international level, put your ego in the back seat and always be willing to learn and improve. You cannot take advantage of an opportunity if you have the inability to recognize it.”
She lamented that standards had dropped in general, recounting a story of when she was in Mrs. Mavis Carrington’s class. She had gotten 9 out of 10 and was quite pleased with herself. When she saw Mrs. Carrington coming with a belt, she wondered which poor student was about to get licks, only to find out soon enough that it was her! “Mrs. Carrington knew I could and should have gotten 10 out of 10. That I should have tried harder, and that if better was possible good was not enough. I learned my lesson that day and it has stayed with me throughout my life. NO EXCUSES!”
Mahalia Phillips of Nexcyx was announced as the special guest artist who will be performing her empowering anthem Queen to close the show. Mahalia told the artists how important it was for them to attend the workshops and take advantage of the opportunities being given to them through the Honey Jam Program.
Tuesday’s Honey Jam auditions were a great success. Judges including Cassandra Crawford, singer and CBC TV host, Mahalia, recording artist, Paul Russell, former Head of Sony/ATV, Alison Hinds, Caroline Roach, LOVE FM, musician and producer John Roett, producer Eliseus Joseph, manager Sonia Mullins, singer and vocal coach Marisa Lindsay, Anies Jordan of CRS Music & Media and artist Philip 7.
The top scorer of the night was Christal Austin (below) who received high marks from each of the 11 judges.
Coscap was in the house to inform all of the artists about their services for songwriters and performing artists.
Media was out in full force to cover the event, find out from the judges what they thought of the talent and to speak with the auditionees about their experiences.

Next up our November 1 press conference where we’ll be announcing the artists who made the cut. We’re in the process of finalizing funding for the artist workshops and then the big show November 12! We’re finalizing the selection of the artists, planning the workshops and our promotional push is on for the showcase. Tickets are in outlets now – The Plantation, Jeans Inc., and Ticket Central. It’s going to be an awesome display of young talent in a variety of genres.
Show producer Ebonnie Rowe told all of the auditionees “We’re not looking for the next Rihanna, that spot is taken, we’re looking for the first you!” She went on to advise them not to look at any other artist as their competition and that the person they need to be better than is the person they were yesterday – to focus on their own development and growth as artists, as young women, as citizens of Barbados and the world, remembering the pledge “and by my living to do credit to my Nation wherever I may go.”
Thanks so much for your support!
Rihanna can speak c**t and she can speak it fluently too,
Rihanna wouldn’t be offended when she hears I say she talks c**t
because according to her that’s a word we bajans use so much its not sen as offensive.
I am not claiming that Bajans are saints when it comes to language and are not liable to “lather someone in cuss” if they feel the occasion demands it with prolific use of “c” “f” and “r” words. What I am saying is to state the curse words and especially the “c” word is not considered to be offensive here is a clear and utter prevarication.
This can be dangerously misleading to persons who have never visited Barbados yet and hear Rihanna’s statement and when they land at the airport and immigration asks if anything to declare?
They proclaim “yes, its great to come to Barbados and spend time with u c**ts”. To their dismay they will find out that not only is the word one of the most offensive you can use here but is also against the laws to use such language in public.
Next thing you get charge for using abusive language and you go before the judge and say in your American accent “your honour, what the c**t is happening here” next thing you also getting charge for contempt of court.
So for the record while it is used often in Barbados the “C” word is just as offensive here as in other parts of the world and can in fact land you in jail.
And despite what Rihanna says its not commonly used in everyday decent conversations, thats why when Rihanna performed at the “Loud” concert in Barbados earlier this year she did not hit the stage and hail Bajans by shouting “Hail C**ts!”
I am wondering if this international exposure of Barbados cursing practices is part of the recently signed off BTA Contract clause of Ri Ri promoting the island? Hmm ….. thats something u need to think about.
Anyways I will stop now before Rihanna gets wind of this and blinds me in cuss and calls me a C**t but I get that all the time anyway.

On the 5th of August 2011 at approximately 10.20 pm I had the “Rihanna” experience and I loved it.
As you age it take a lot to impress you, and when you have been in the Entertainment business for 30 years its even harder, the “Loud” Concert impress the hell outta me and blew my mind for more reasons than one.
Even before the event started I was awed by the magnificent stage, it stood like a massive alien waiting to assimilate you. And that’s what it did when it came alive at 10.40 pm on 5th August the Rihannic entertainment that came forth from it consumed everyone who was there and even though its over it keeps reverberating in my brain and constantly blowing my mind.
To see the entertainment excellence used to present a Bajan was part of what blew my mind, as DJ Dummy said his role was to prepare the audience for Ms Rihanna, when I saw that crew working to prepare the stage for Rihanna I felt proud that a Bajan could at that level.
When Rihanna concert started up with the lights the sounds the brilliance that sweeps you away from your problems and whisks you to a musical fantasy land, the fact that you spent 90 minutes just before waiting all of a sudden meant nothing.
In fact I got there from 6 pm and as far as I am concerned I was waiting 4 hrs and 20 minutes for the Rihanna experience and it was worth the wait.
From the opening number “the only girl in the world” Rihanna was sliding cross the stage, and I mean literally sliding as the stage moved with her on it.
Then it was on to “Disturbia” “shut up and drive” the salacious Rihannic redo of one of the most erotic Prince songs ever “Nikki”.
Then I got “S and M”ed and Rihanna drove this huge tank on stage an blew everybody’s mind with it,
One of the biggest thrills that I got for the night were the words that came forth from Rihanna’s mouth, not her singing as enjoyable as her lyrics were, the high point was when Rihanna said “wunna getta on so bougie tonight, wuh wunnah doan gey on so”. When Rihanna said that you realise that was we up there singing in the midst of all that Americanism excellence one of we was in control.
All those Americans round there wouldn’t understand what she said, but we did.
The dancers, the lights, the effects I keep reliving the sweet euphoric Rihannic intoxication from the awesome opening to the fantasical ending, where the song “umbrella” brought the proceedings to a close amidst a shower of confetti rain all mixed with lights and crescendo music, when I need to get back that Rihanna high I view on clips on my blackberry, it takes me back to the night of 5th August 2011 when I had the Rihanna experience.

I never thought I would see the day when skin bleaching would be rampant in a place like Jamaica, being done by women AND men
Boyce is surprised and disappointed that Jamaicans of all Caribbean people should be the main practitioners of this form of disgusting ridiculous self hatery.
Women doing it is bad enough but how all those shotta shotta Gansta Badd ass Jamaican men get involved is beyond me.
Pray tell how Jamaican these men who are suppose to be so homophobic could now spend time in front a mirror applying cream to their face like women to bleach themselves white.
Vibes Kartel is the highest profiled jamaican act to embrace to bleaching, he now has a refurbished pretty face, I wouldn’t go telling him anything about his “Michael Jackson” look to his face though, u know how Jamaican men are.He might out your lights.
I always saw Jamaicans as strong people whose belief in themselves and their music has given them a worldwide reputation. Reggae has surpassed Calypso by far and is accepted internationally as a dominant music art form,
reggae is even recognized at the Grammys then.
What impresses me about Reggae is it maintains its Jamaican accent that not even I don’t understand what the heck they are singing, they don’t change their music for nobody. But apparently that doesn’t to their skin colour, that can be changed to be lighter complexion so they can be more accepted.

I can’t hush about “Hush 3 Twisted Innocence”, it was too good, I will hush about the details of the plot cause I don’t want to spoil it for you as you should be making it your business to head up to Olympus and buying your ticket to support this 100% Bajan production.
I must compliment Marcia Weekes for a well written and produced Movie, I would like to compare it to Hush 1 & 2 but Hush 3 was the first I saw in the series.
What I can say is that Hollywood has a tendency that when they get to # 3 in a sequel its a waste of time, look at Matrix part 3 and see what I mean.
But that doesn’t happen with “Hush 3”, the storyline was engrossing and there’s a super twist in the plot line that I didn’t expect at all. The characters were well developed and also well acted by the mainly youthful cast.
The cast director did an excellent job as I found everyone believable in their roles.
Mac Fingall, I was very impressed with Mac’s acting skills, at first when I saw him as a coach I was saying that’s not really a stretch for Mac as he does that in real life, it’s like casting me as an idiot, I wouldn’t have to act.
But Mac was not only funny as expected but was impactful in the dramatic emotional scenes, like visiting a youngster in prison and crying even, I was quite moved. However if you saw me in the theater crying at that point, something was in my eye.
Mac by the way hails from Celebration Time, which is not germane to this topic but u know how I like to promote.
I was very impressed with the production standards maintained throughout the movie, the music and the action on the screen blended well together , you heard a good blend of Christian and secular tracks like “Big Hail” by Lil Rick (also from Celebration Time).
I will have to give my friend Merville Lynch video productions credit for the impressive photography and editing, if you ask him he might deny knowing me but I have worked with him for years and obviously he learnt something from me.
In addition to sexual abuse both male to female and male to male, in the movie homophobia was also dealt, with along with lesbianism thrown in for good measure.
Must confess that the abuse especially man to man was a bit much to take, but its necessary to show the bleak reality we live in.When I say its a Christian production don’t let that deter you from going regardless of your state with the man upstairs, you will enjoy it as its simply a good movie.
Its a source of pride that we can walk into Olympus cinema and see a Bajan film in regular rotation complete with a display poster and everything. Kudos once more to Marcia Weekes for scripting, directing, accessing the funding and bringing Hush 3 to spectacular life.
I think I need to hush now, I have said enough.
Ps.
Watch for the closing credits for the film bloopers they are hilarious
P.Boyce is leaving the Cinema all puffed up with pride and popcorn
