Pirates of The Caribbean

Now I know where they got the idea for the movie “Pirates of The Caribbean”.

Recently I did some traveling down to three Caribbean Territories, St Lucia, Antigua and St Marteen. You see I am something of a movie buff; I like Quentin Tarantino, Robert De Niro, etc. I wanted to see if I could boost up my collection and purchase some original DVDs while traveling.

But alas, try as I may I could not find an original DVD for sale no where in the islands.
Notice I said original, there was a proliferation of illegal copies for sale from street vendors.

It reminded me what Barbados would have become if back in Crop Over 2004 entertainers had not taken the “with holding music stand”. It reminded me of what Barbados could have become if Government and our Royal Police Force were not vigilant in apprehending and prosecuting Pirates as they have been doing since 2004.

Entertainers should make note of these positive things, we don’t want to be called “selfish and ungrateful”.

Not only is it a case of the Police finally doing their job, but it is also Bajans having more common sense. You would never find a guy on the side walk of Cheapside wid a table selling the latest in DVD entertainment, rather he would get a few friends to take around an album with over 50 different DVD movies to choose from so people can buy said movies privately & in comfort without fear of being caught by the LAW.
No big thing, those movies make millions, they won’t miss a few hundred dollars due to Pirating. Or would they?

you know amazes me about this debate on movie piracy? that large movie stores on this island carry copied material. stores have entire shelves dedicated to pirated material. and they arrest charge and make an example of a guy with 20 copies on a sidewalk.
