The Police Vs the Press and U
Did you read the news story about the CBC and Nation media personnel being roughed up by the police at our Queen Elizabeth hospital? Read it now!
See how CBC camera man Jimmy Gittens was imprisoned and charged for committing the heinous crime of attempting to report on a bus accident? When you see this kind of aggressive police action being taken against press freedom we need to sit up and pay attention! Both as entertainers and as members of the public.
Outside of the press the next entities who “report” on issues are entertainers, specifically Calypsonians. RPB, Classic and Romeo all give commentary “reports” on things which happen in society. How long will it be before the same type of aggressive action is also utilized against the entertainers who are the mouthpiece of the people?
MADD has had various encounters involving the police through out the years,such confrontations are characteristics of a police state and not the democracy we are supposed to be. When you see reporters being dragged away for something as mundane as attempting to report an accident, we need to sit up!

A despicable display of tyranny against the press by Owen Arthur and his BLP gang !
Imagine giving them another 5 years……who could dare speak out in Barbados then ?
Imagine another 5 years under BLP rule……the REPUBLIC we would have would be just as bad as that of ZIMBABWE , CUBA and VENEZUELA !
It is time to remove these thugs from office !

I just starting reading you….you are good, I like the way you express your ‘telling’ points.
This particular piece is very instructive because it is indicative of what is happening in all aspects of life in Bim these days. Everyone keeps ’shutup’ because they want ’something’. There is no such thing as principle anymore. … so we all sit back and ’skin we teet’ so that we dont rock de boat.
Its now your job to take the entertainers forward just as Gabby did back then… Good luck and keep the good work up .

i do not agree with commentator
this has nothing to do with owen and the BLP
allyuh just want somebody to blame for everything that happens–this is a slave mentality and it has held us back for 600 years
this blaming thing———–what you are doing is excusing yourself and looking for someone to blame the problems on- what is your role in this matter ? are you out there protesting ——–no —-you want the government and owen to deal with it.
changing the government is make a difference—the person that you would want to change to has a slave master mentality but this is not about that person——it is about you –and your responsibility as a citizen—think about it bro ! and i not talking about voting and just recoiling and allowing the politicians to solve every problem.
