A Saucy Story
My son wants to know what’s so humorous about “E 69″ lyric mentioned in Timmy’s new sauce song.
I told Him when he grows up he will understand, though by the time you read this somebody at his school might have told him.
I remember some years ago while working on the Batman 100 % Vintage Calypso show, I was listening to Reclaimer’s hit “In De Sauce” remember that hit from the eighties?
Let me sing it for you…
“Lapping up de taste
Sauce all over me face
I ent got no time for grace
Eating at a ferocious pace…
Cause I like it in de sauce…..”
Let me get back to my original point as you can see, remembering the taste of that saucy music is causing me to digress.
My point was as I was listening to “In De Sauce” my little son heard it and asked if it was a Christmas song? Because all he could hear all through it was about eating eating eating.
That is the beauty of a calypso, a child listening to it hears one message and an adult hears another. That’s why when I hear critics knocking our calypsos I get Madd!
Look out for Timmy performing his “De Sauce” in Bacchanal Time Calypso tent opening on 23rd June 2007 at the George Street Auditorium.

People impose their own interpretation on these songs driven by their life experiences, their perversions, etc.
