Deep Throat vs De Sauce; Rated X (Exclusive 2007 Crop Over Music)
If you are under eighteen years of age stop reading this now!!
I knew that would grab your attention. I will now give you an analysis you wouldn’t see in your local newspaper. Ricky wouldn’t write it as he is too decent. Adonijah couldn’t as he is a vegetarian and this is to Hott for even the Heat newspaper.
I put it to you that the song “In De Sauce” created the same effect in Barbados in the eighties, that the porn movie “Deep Throat” did when released in United States in the seventies!
Deep throat was the first movie of its kind to be released nationally in US cinemas back in 1972. The movie starred a lady named Linda Lovelace that had so much love to give she shared it in the movie. As indicated by its name (Deep Throat) the movie featured an activity that if practiced would qualify you to join a circus as a sword swallower.
After the flick came out many people (especially women) became quite adept at swallowing swords like what they had seen in the movie. However, they did not join the circus, they were content to perform in the privacy of their own bedroom or sometimes kitchen or car.
In Barbados in the 1980’s calypsonian Reclaimer released a song entitled “In De Sauce”.
Before that song came out, venturing into any sauce was simply unheard of. Reclaimer’s song caused Bajans to, over night, develop a voracious appetite for Sauce that had not existed before. Men who would never before admit to tasting sauce started to proudly proclaim their prowess in devouring the delicacy.
Both Deep Throat and In De Sauce started trends in what people did in the privacy of their bedroom, kitchen or car. If you do not know what trends they started that means you are under eighteen and should not be reading this.
This comparative analysis proves the effect of popular media on even events which occur in your bedroom both orally and other wise.
If you would like to achieve prowess in any activities described above, this same article can help you. Just read it once every day for six weeks, pronouncing correctly every single word and paying attention to your “TH’s”.
For example when you say “Deep Throat” put your tongue between your teeth and pronouce “TH-roat” correctly and you could be on your way to being an entertainer and singing about conch and sauce.
If you are wondering where I would have acquired such knowledge of the blue coloured film mentioned above, Darron told me.
For your edification, Boyce Voice now presents the song “In De Sauce” not just lyrics but a verbal remake performed orally by Troy Special!
This song will be available exclusively here for about a week. Enjoy!
Coming to you soon on Underground Soca Vol 1
