Al Gilkes Eats Conch!
And he is not afraid to admit it either!
He made this statement at the end of his feature speech presentation at the Batman Calypso awards on Sunday 3rd June 2007 at the Blue Horizon. Chairman of NCF Al issued a challenge that he was going to eat more conch than Lil Rick and could handle more sauce than Timmy in Crop Over 2007.
Now that is quite an impressive statement considering it is coming from a man that has got to be almost 100 years old.
Al has been around like for ever, you hear him talk about promoting shows back in the 60’s and hanging out with Jackie Opel. The man has been in show business before TV was in Barbados so you know he is pretty ancient.
Eric Lewis who works with the fisheries tells me that conch is a dish to get, so if Al is eating a lot of it he has to be good.
It probably explains some of the statements you hear coming from the NCF. I mean if the Chairman eats conch it would have to be the staple diet of the CEO and the entire foundation.
I feel at NCF CEO stands for Conch Eating Official so Ian Estwick probably eats a lot of conch that is why he is so chubby.
And you know what they say … You are what you eat!
So if you eat conch you would probably be able to speak it quite fluently. I have been at NCF meetings where they talk bare conch, they talk conch about exclusivity contracts they talk conch about exploitive clauses, NCF is just so much conch.
You have got to take your hat off to the present management of NCF for talking bare and utter conch. They talk so much conch NCF should stand for National CONCH Foundation!
What else can you expect when your Chairman eats conch!
* Next time I see Penny from NCF, I will ask her what she eats, that would be interesting.

Now that explains EVERYTHING. And all along i thought they were a bunch of Jacka**es but it’s the conch that has them so foolish.
The real problem is not with them, but with us (the entertainers) We are not on the same conch level as them. If we became more conch-like, then we would be able to get along better. So people let us start getting on like conchs so the NCF can wipe Sauce all over we face. lol
BTW What ever it is Penny eats i want to watch when she eating it. MOOOOHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
