“Man Should Not Lie With Man”
I know that the title of this post will offend some people. Are you offended? Well that’s just too bad ain’t it. Let’s move on.
Some years ago Madd used to get into trouble and was deemed controversial because we wore dresses on stage and had “funny” character Archiebull singing. It was alleged that we were pushing homosexuality.
Now these days a performer is deemed controversial and a trouble maker because he has a song saying men should like women! You could imagine that? That’s what Peter Ram is saying is his popular 2006 tune “Woman by My Side” when he uses the lyrics “Man should not Lie with Man”. Ram has been causing controversy all over the place for singing those lyrics.
The fact is it is written in the Bible in Leviticus that “man should not lie with man” and that’s about all there is to it. I think that means women should not lie with women either nor bite one another.
Now I will stop here and change my subject midstream and I will tell you why. I realize that Gay people are now powerful and you cannot say any thing they do not like, unless you are in Jamaica. Next thing yuh know Boyce Voice site would get pull down!
So let’s move on, next point!
These days calypsonians are in a quandary. Let me tell you why. If you sing a saucy song, they say you are singing smut and criticize yuh, if you sing a song quoting the bible, you still get attacked.
What the *heck is a man to do?
Let’s move on, last point, back to Ram.
How come it is that when we sing alleged smut Christians have a lot to say but when Peter Ram quotes the bible in his song and is attacked bitterly because of it, the Christians do not come out and say any thing?
This is food for thought whether you like conch or sauce or like to sit in wicker chairs while you eat.

Noun, def – dangerous, malicious, nasty, stinking, two face hypocrites, with nothing else better to do, but criticize other people.

Here Here! Well said Peter. I would like to add one thing though. I want to say some thing to all musicians. In these times as you said, the gay’s got real power and the minute anything is said against them they are ready to kill and cure.
So musicians, make up wunna minds. Either you for or against homosexuality and if you are against it and you decide to declare that in public, brace yourself for the inevitable trouble that will come. BUT be a man DO NOT go back on your words. DO NOT appologise for believing in the the words of the father.
Instead STAND UP and let the bullers know that they CANNOT control your right to freedom of speech.
