No Sinners Allowed!
Eric Lewis from Madd brought this one to my attention. In the newspaper last weekend an ad for a born again Christian singers ONLY calypso competition. I have been told by the NCF CEO that I am sorta slow. So some times I need help figuring stuff out, and this Christian thing is one of them.
As I recall we allow Christians to enter our “Sinful” Pic o de Crop competition. We allow Christians to have their own “Experience Tent” and participate in Crop Over. But Since the Christians are laying down stipulations that you must be born again to enter their own Calypso competitions, maybe we need to put some in ours as well.
So in order to participate in the Pic o de Crop “sin”competition you must qualify by providing evidence of at least two extramarital affairs and must have had a confirmed curse out with somebody over the last 6 months. Also at some point in your life you must have done at least some shop lifting.
I do not think these criteria would omit anyone who currently participates so it should be no problem. If the Christians have stipulations in their competitions it is only fair that we should reciprocate. What do you think?
If during the reading of this blog there is any thing I might have written which might have incensed or offended you, GET OVER IT! There are many things I read and hear in the media on a daily basis that I don't like either. SO DEAL WITH IT! You are welcome to leave your comments though. Make sure and come back yuh hear !!!...

well well well
this is just another case of discrimination and barbados is full of this shit
yuh know something ??? !!!——–this society is in trouble –and it is based entirely on a lot of foolishness copied from the europeans who enslaved our forefathers—————-
the shit that they did to us has not been repaired and we believe in somethings that promote discrimination———we all know the history of christianity in this whole affair
a lot of what some people who call themselves christians in barbados do is fuel by a hatred of fellow human beings who they see as not better than them——as a result these so-called christians do not practise love, forgiveness or any of the examples that the master himself provide
columbus came to save heathen –he also came for gold and he DISCOVERED the west indies–the rest is history
we are still living the lie
and the problem that i have with the leaders in this society is that they have not identified this as something that needs to be corrected -
trust me it is at the heart of all of our problems–all all all
–so you would have something like what you have described -developing in this society
it is enough to make me puke
enough is enuff

This was a pretty silly write…I rather not see a write up on the site than to see one of this nature…
Crop over events are not classified by their promoters as “sin” events, so all are welcome to perform….however, a church/Christian event is just what it is Christian…

Hi Peter. I don’t agree with you. There are no stipulations for participants in the Crop Over events because they are (and should be) open for everyone. Each person will decide what they want to do…wuk up or praise God; spin pooch or worship Jesus Christ. If the Christians chose to have a tent it is their choice…the ’sinners’ don’t ‘allow’ it. It is a Barbadian Festival for everyone. The festival is for all of us to celebrate the end of the Crop…which we don’t do anyway. In most cases it’s just a time to let loose for most people…get on wild and wassie. And that’s fine if that’s your thing. But I don’t think it is fair to say we allow Christians to enter our ’sinful’ Pic O De Crop competition. It is only sinful because people have made it so.
If Christians chose to celebrate Crop Over by worshiping God ain’t nothing wrong with that…they have a right to celebrate/participate in national events if they want to. As do the Hindus, Muslims and Rastafarians if they want to. But I am sure they won’t invite the nation to participate in many (if any) of their events.
The guidelines for a Christian competition will be way different from the guidelines for a secular competition. In most secular arrangements basically anything goes. I believe the focus would be on praising God firstly…not wukking up or grinding pon a bumpa. Nothing is wrong with stipulations and requirements…it saves from confusion and misunderstandings.
In my view reciprocation will solve nothing.
That’s all…for now.

hey barbadian beauty and caution
what is your concept of god
what is your concept of sin
what is worshipping
what is celebration
be careful with your answers—-this is a trap
if you do not feel confident to answer please dont—(reverse psychology)

To bounce a fire…
My comment was not to stir up no discussion about God,sin, worhsipping or celebration…so you can put back your trap in your back pocket…
My comment is merely to show what a fickle piece of writing it was…do not take me wrong as I enjoy a large percentage of the pieces written…

i see that you are being cautious
but that this subject has to be dealt with as a matter of great importance
Reason : we have been living in mental slavery for too long now. We have been bound in the chains of ignorance, stereotype and folly for too long
