All Hail Rihanna
All hail our own Bajan Superstar Queen Rihanna! who brought home the gold Sunday night at the MTV music awards held in last Vegas. Rihanna won the top MTV prizes, video of the year, for her smash hit Umbrella. That tune also won monster single of the year.
Boyce Voice would like to set the record straight that we think Rihanna Fenty is the greatest thing since slice bread, with cheese! Since I wrote the post about “Rihanna Ripping off Contone”, I noticed quite a bit of people have been giving me nasty looks and cut eyes. Boyce Voice reader Meshaka responded warning me “don’t cause no scandal” to that girl name. Then my friend Sue from all the way in England sent me an email saying I need to lay off Rihanna! So I need to set the record straight before some body out my lights.
To my mind Rihanna could probably be considered the greatest Bajan entertainer who has ever lived based on her accomplishments so far. By international standards she aint no pushover as indicated by the major MTV awards she won on Sunday. We Bajans especially should be grateful for the exposure that Rihanna brings to our island, in her online biography it read Rihanna was born in “Saint Michael” Barbados, so even our parishes are getting international mentions now.
While the exposure that Rupee, Alison Hinds, Edwin, Krosfyah and Square One cannot go unrecognized, with out doubt Rihanna has taken us to a whole new level. So don’t mind my jokes I will like to repeat reiterate and recapitulate that I like Rihanna badd! she is the greatest thing since slice bread & cheese, caviar and conch. Congrats again on her MTV success and making Barbados proud.
I don’t care if you have seen this picture already I am posting it again. That is me beside Rihanna in 2005, look at it and weep yuh idiot!
If during the reading of this blog there is any thing I might have written which might have incensed or offended you, GET OVER IT! Just caught and old entry and wanted to share my 2 cents. Rihanna is undoubted a superstar and her rise to fame is historical. She has achieved heights that are by any standards phenomenal. Since June this year I must have written something every month on Rihanna and every time I feel the magnitude of what she is going through. Sure, there is much thrill when you are riding high but without the support of a strong foundation of family and friends, the fall from fame could be worse than the ascension. Rihanna has my moral support and constant prays

A person needs greater insight not to envy
Lives like that of our Robyn Rihanna Fenty
Look how quickly she rose to her fame
How easily she got on top of her game
And still if we stop to examine
Investigated more closely how she’s living
Life under the world’s microscope
Rihanna is constantly climbing a slippery slope
Intelligent people and entertainers especially
Have a greater understanding of our celebrity
And Peter always demonstrated his support

agrees 99% with wat eyebawlin’s assessment of thursday night’s event……thought i was the only person tht didnt quite grasp wat a tribute meant..thought i watched too much bet…wasnt quite thrilled with the entertainment package xcept for a few bright sparks…which i see eyebwilin failed to comment on one in particular….unless i missed it…ie philip 7..and tht song…..i will admit that until the same morning i was totally unaware that he was a local artist…grt song grt vocals…u if no one else deserve an international hookup to market tht song….and unlike some of the other so called untalented that seem to b getting hookups out da damn blue…this is wat u call REALLL talent….what i can say is that the vibe in the atmosphere was great..im sure for the first time rihanna felt truly loved an appreciated..and for once LOOKED TRULY HAPPY ON A RETURN TRIP HOME…SINCE HER RISE TO STARDOM……

EYEBAWLIN we is Bajan and we speak dialect but cawnlen why the F* you write like that for you cudda write in proper english..ya got some Valid points tho but i gota ta be slow caws i cudnt even read it in my head i had to read aloud..lolol(I feel shame)..but look she get a Grammy we gaved her a lovely concert(except for the glits) made her feel very appreciated but what happen to we everyday people,some trying to big we up to ya no..hmm something to ponder upon..
Another ting i think she should have a lil concert in bim some time,proably sing a lil song wid one of the entertainers that sings her jonra(incorrect spelling i no) of music.phillip scantelbury and rihanna..hmm think about it..
