Gone with the Wind (Part 2) White Version

Let us overlook the racist undertone of the “Gone with the Wind” movie, which you should have read about in my previous post and look at some of the reasons it is renowned to be “the greatest film ever made”. It was a pretty damn excellent movie! I enjoyed the well written script and engrossing story line. Must warn you that the movie is almost 4 hours long, but I found it seemed to add dramatic impact in that after watching it for so long, you get the impression you have lived through the bygone era portrayed in the movie.

“Gone with the Wind” told the story of the love affair between Scarlett (Vivian Leigh) and Rhett (Clark Gable) but mainly focuses on Scarlet. Scarlet was so wuffless then, even by today’s standards, she was something else. She is enjoyably manipulative, working and marrying her way to power and wealth throughout the movie. She would still be an inspiration to the material girls of today.
Scarlett is so conniving she was able to get the wife she was horning* to deliver her husband to her; she was hard so then!

While Scarlet ends up with the material things, she still loses her real true love Rhett. He tells her at the end of the movie when he is walking out, that famous movie line frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn!

*Horning; to suduce a persons partner behind their back with out them knowing, like what happens on “Desperate Housewifes”
