If during the reading of this blog there is any thing I might have written which might have incensed or offended you, GET OVER IT! There are many things I read and hear in the media on a daily basis that I don't like either. SO DEAL WITH IT! You are welcome to leave your comments though. Make sure and come back yuh hear !!!...

November 5th, 2007 at 12:26 pm
Just glancing at the nominees…why is Sebastian not nominated for producer? No offense to Machel, but BMA’s and he’s getting lifetime achievement award…I won’t voice my other opinions right now (got some work to do), but as usual, there are some people there that definitely are favorites among whoever chooses the nominees but for no good reason. BTW…instrumentalist…has anyone paid attn to the amount of songs Tony Bailey lent a hand in this year?
November 5th, 2007 at 12:35 pm
I now realise…Bubbles not under producer either…STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPSE
November 5th, 2007 at 4:34 pm
Y I does waste my time reading this list fa? I don’t know, just to say I read um I guess. This list is bare F%*#@*# as usual. STUPSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
BMA MY ARSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
November 5th, 2007 at 7:51 pm
I am disappointed that Corporate Barbados would continue to support an event which is run with such unprofessionalism. The comittee which met and nominated the above, obviously were clouded by the “friendship” agenda and it therefore is not suprising that these same persons are also nominees. Can someone explain why Machel is on a nomination list to receive an award? where is the #1 radio personality – Jon Doe? Where is Bubbles? Ronnie Morris is needs to go back to the drawing board.
November 6th, 2007 at 10:40 am
Why does the music video category remain divided only between Male/Female? Does this mean that any band that makes a video is immediately not eligible? How smart is this? Daft.
November 6th, 2007 at 11:11 am
After looking at the categories again, I realised my mistake in getting annoyed at Machel’s award…int’l OK. I guess they just want him there. But what f*&kin sense is nominating Dale for Song of the Year and he not even on the Soca Single category? Nevermind what the song did over Cropover, but it makes no sense whatsoever to have someone in a ‘top’ category and not the lesser one for which he rightfully deserves to be there.
Soca Album by solo, group, duo…WTF? 2 albums with a number of old songs vs 1 with all new material. Well I hope Krosfyah gets the award. If not, then I damn well know the BMA’s committee is at least 51% full of idiots. Prove me wrong please.
November 6th, 2007 at 1:05 pm
WTF made Rummy an authority on Crop Over or Crop Over affairs ? Rummy is a girl who live in Miami and come to Crop Over every year with her video camera causing trouble. she has been seen in many forums across the net be-littling Crop Over favorites like Kimberley Inniss.
To Rummy I say stop complaining and critizising everything and call Jenny Craig !!
Let me commend Peter for the wonderful work he is doing. I LOVE THIS BLOG. !!
November 6th, 2007 at 1:58 pm
you have to be friends of certain ppl to get nominated. enough said.
the bma is a farce.
November 6th, 2007 at 2:23 pm
LOL @ boycevoicefan.
November 6th, 2007 at 3:38 pm
I don’t understand what you people are complaining about??!!
1- According to the list, Machel is receiving an INTERNATIONAL LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
2- Mr. Dale IS nominated in the Best Mid-Tempo / Ragga-Soca category, so he cannot be in the soca category as well, which i think is for fast songs like Caaan Waaait! Also, there can be NO QUESTION as to if he should be nominated for song of the year…that is a given…he was OUTSTANDING this year.
It would be better if some of you THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE, or at least read the posts, so you don’t appear to be just another typical Bajan trying to cry down things, not knowing facts, but just talking for the sake of doing so. When you people ask why someone is not nominated do you not look at the OTHER people who ARE nominated?
WHo out of those who are nominated for Producer of the year would you put out and replace with Sebastian? WHICH ONE? All of those guys had hit after hit after hit this year. GET REAL PEOPLE!! Sebastian is good, but he only had one hit this year…let’s be real.
I hope Ronnie Morris does not read this crap you people are posting, because he’s a young BLACK man trying to do phenomenal things, and it pisses me off that Bajans are doing to him, the very same thing they do to Rihanna, cry them down every chance they get.
Ronnie, if you read this page by any chance, keep your head up, and do what you are doing. I was on the committee, and I can tell you that your process is fair, and very, very open. I was surpized that it’s done in such an open forum, free for discussion and debate etc. Do your thing boy, and ignore Bajans, they will never change. Your standard is INTERNATIONAL.
November 6th, 2007 at 5:56 pm
”voiceboycefan”
rummy is entitled to her opinion just like you are, and everyone else in this world. Insulting her personally is terrible and quoting weight lost programs is low. You can disagree with her with out the insults to her person. Calling out where she resides that I wont even comment on.
All of your opinions can be strong and still can be tasteful…
btw… critizing an organization and critizing a persons physique is not one of the same
November 6th, 2007 at 10:15 pm
Thing is…producer could have had a number of people…Sebastian, Dwain Antrobus, Bubbles, Chris Allman, or Darron Grant. It’s not that I don’t think the proper person won’t win the category, but more so the actual nominees. Up til now, I wondering how KB name get put in there when his Reggae Baje CD was only released in recent weeks. Do I think he would win? NO. I just feel more thought should have been put into bringing the absolute top people for the year in that category (Dwain’s songs for Patrice & Machel are getting a lot of push outside of Barbados as an example). I should have read thru more thoroughly I admit from my first comment, but looking at the list now, doesn’t change my mind that the 50 people who had their input came up with the best of what Barbados has to offer.
November 7th, 2007 at 12:28 am
bajans always complaining should also read BEFORE YOU TYPE. NO ONE SAID Mr. Dale didnt deserve to be in the category. It was said that he rightfully deserves to be so. It looks like they tried to seperate the ragga socas from the uptempos in some segment and just called it soca single instead of uptempo… thats the only thing that makes sense to me.
On that note i have some questions to ask. Anyone with answers please share…
1. What qualifies Hal linton for r&b artist of the year when he hasnt released anything new since the stuff that he won awards for at the LAST BMAs.
2. What quallfies Kimberly Innis for female entertainer of the year when song that she has been nominated for (which really was not that popular) is a duet. why isnt keann there as well? KImberly certainly had no real impact on crop over or anything else this year otherwise if at all. If anything TARA should be there for her achievements in both competitions as well as airplay.
3. How can an album that has barely been put on the shelf and has created no significant buzz be nominated for best soca album?
4. How can “SWEAT” be nominated for Song of the year when it didnt do as good as ANY of the other soca songs nominated this year.
awaits answers….
that said kudos to Morris For TRYING to do something great for entertainment.
November 7th, 2007 at 12:31 am
RUMMY does more for the promotion of bajan soca music than MANY of the people that try to criticize her for HER opinion. If you would stop hating you would see the reality of what she has to say! Even if it is ONLY her opinion. personal attacks are very distastful.
November 7th, 2007 at 12:31 am
Indra Rudder needs an award for her contribution to 80% of the songs recorded each year in BIM.
November 7th, 2007 at 1:29 am
“Sweetz”
rummy constantly puts down everything on Crop Over … the thing is .. she is trini ! she causes A LOT of trouble. i can give you links on the net where she has criticized artists on very personal levels. she gives everyone the impression that she is a force in Crop Over and soca music. truth is : she is a groupie ! as u said already I AM ENTITLED TO MY OPINION which is : Rummy, go see Jenny Craig!
November 7th, 2007 at 4:55 am
I agree with ‘voiceboycefan’. A lot of people parade as experts on everything Cropover-related and only cause trouble.
November 7th, 2007 at 5:02 am
LOL !!
Rummy just drinks most of the rum in Barbados . Thats about it.
She uses the web to pull down artists .. this girl is a groupie .. tell her I have a pair of glasses that needs to be fixed too.
To Peter, I am anxiously awaiting the location of the BMA this year … not sure if you announced that in your feature. err .. I’ll check
November 7th, 2007 at 11:07 am
*still laughing*
Some people can’t take criticism very well at all. I don’t deny that I’ve made comments regarding certain artistes (and there are plenty of people who agree with my opinions, so I’m assuming whoever you are, u are upset for hearing what may have some truth to it).
I don’t care if you want to make personal comments about me. It only proves you studying me & what I do. Plenty people would know who I am & I have no reason to hide behind some anonymous name to voice my opinions. You on the other hand have me to believe that you are a coward if you need to watch people & talk about them on the net. If all you can do is complain about my weight or that I don’t like the music Kimberley puts out, then you’re digging deep to find something to complain about (which is not helping your credibility at all). BTW…check your facts, I’m not Trini or West Indian for that matter (which makes this even funnier since you are worrying about what an American thinks in regards to soca). Hehe
November 7th, 2007 at 12:32 pm
I am not going to beg any body for an award But I would LIKE MY FRIGGING ROYALTIES FROM –COSCAP—
November 7th, 2007 at 12:33 pm
DAH IS WUH
November 7th, 2007 at 12:44 pm
Rummy helps more artists than ANY OF YOU! and here you are asking for her help again. You should try contacts… anyhow the thread is supposed to be about the BMAs not rummy.
November 7th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
“rummy”
This young lady is a very helpful individual in the soca industry.

November 7th, 2007 at 7:22 pm
LOL’s even harder !
Your roots are trini … dont get me started !
anyways I want u to remember with that artists have families to feed. all u have to worry about are the batteries for your vid camera. and if ur an american WTF dont u find an american forum to pull down american artists then ? Seems like your the one in denial and hiding !
so .. are you gonna fix my glasses or not ?
hey im not the one who spends days posting negs about soca artists !
November 7th, 2007 at 7:25 pm
Teshia Hinds and Hurricane are on the committee… nuff said! International my arse, Bma a pure farce
November 7th, 2007 at 7:36 pm
i want to know the criteria for choosing nominees tho. how do the committee arrive at choosing ppl? just pick a name and a category and run with it?
November 7th, 2007 at 7:47 pm
ok .. we’re not gonna talk about that girl any more.
on a serious note … I really feel bad for Sebastian …
this is the second year him not getting a nomination. This guy is pure talent and he IS so humble. cha man
November 7th, 2007 at 7:50 pm
geez man

(i was just making a point)
enough already.
November 7th, 2007 at 7:59 pm
ok .. they deleted my last post
let Rummy know .. that Kimberley Innis is the owner of one of the best voices ever to come out of Barbados.
Rummy has no right to comment on her looks in a public forum such as the net.
thats all
artists have families to feed .. Rummy dont be-little anymore artists or u will have to answer to me.
November 7th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
This site is VERY interesting! Glad I Joined! Nice to meet all a wanna.
The show at the Gymnasium.
About the KB thing, KB is Hit Island’s producer, they did most of the hip-hop / r&b hits this year, and their compilation is also nominated too. So he really put out alot of work to have two full albums of his work, both nominated. Guess he lives in that studio full-time! LOL
When we all look at it though, one thing is for sure, Bajan musicians really doing good, cause there are soooo many people who could have been nominated, but the competition is hot, hot, hot.
November 7th, 2007 at 11:23 pm
@ bajansalwayscomplaining…Thanks for the clarification (though I still don’t agree with him being in the producer category). I guess I’d have to listen to more of the interviews when artistes come to drop their tunes. In recent months I’d heard Chris or Deepu name, but I don’t hear KB name on any of the tracks that I hear on the regular.
@ puertorican…online translation sites aren’t the best way to get your message across in Spanish. In the least look up how to say “started” so as not to make it so obvious. lol
lookingon…blahblahblahblah. lol.
November 8th, 2007 at 12:32 pm
‘Rummy”
ok Ms over-active thyroid. U fix dem glasses and shut up.
November 8th, 2007 at 4:04 pm
Spoke to Ronnie today on the phone. And yes, he reads this post every day apparently…
I was hoping he didn’t. But, everyone who tries to do big things get criticized, so I told him just be strong, but let me tell wanna something….in speaking to him…that boy has VERY GOOD INTENTIONS for the local music industry, and he’s trying.
As for DJs who were in the committee meeting, as I said before, I was there, and I know that nuff nuff DJs from all stations were invited, so don’t knock Teishia and Hurricane for turning up!
Anyways…what can ya do? The way he sounded on the phone, sounds like, on the real, this whole thing is really getting to him. That bold face is a bare front boy, wanna really frigging up that boy. By the way, I asked him a direct question as to if he agrees with ALL the nominees, and he said NO, but he is standing by the decisions made by THE COMMITTEE. He didn’t have time to chat too long because he was on the other line talking to A MAJOR RECORD LABEL ABOUT SENDING IN SCOUTS AND A&R’S FOR THE SHOW and the Workshop. mmmm…..I tell ya.
November 9th, 2007 at 8:18 am
are the music heads in bim interested in the local music industry, or are they interested in who they know and who they associate with in the music industry?
i know lots of local artist including myself who has international quality music not rated by me but by other great producers in bim and abroad like in canada, and these people cant even get a song play on de radio locally. look, ya see me, i gone fuh now, link wunna people lata or seing caw dis so called music industry is about who ya know and who know ya. anyways i out, bad and wuffliss.

November 9th, 2007 at 1:42 pm
Do you guys realise that since the Music Awards nominations came out the radio stations playing nuff, nuff, nuff local music? and every time de DJs play de songs, they saying ” a nominee for the 2008 BMAs”.
November 10th, 2007 at 10:40 am
to bajansalwayscomplaining: Most of the djs playing the local music because it’s that time of year again – NOVEMBER/INDEPENDENCE!!
November 11th, 2007 at 6:13 am
Wow!!!…First time on here…this is really a hot topic…lol
November 11th, 2007 at 6:22 am
Haven’t 98.1 & Mix fm been playing Bajan music year-round though?…Waaaay before all this Independance thing…the rest are only now trying to play “catch-up”…By the way…Raadio Personality of the year is all about the “Radio Personality” who makes the biggest contribution towards pushing the Bajan music, the producers and the artists. Be honest guys…if the others want piece of the action let the BMA powers include a popularity segment perhaps for public poll that they can have more control over. Note that they havent been interested enough in the Bajan industry to turn up to any of the meetings or events to which they were invited, so that they could make a valid contribution to the industry. So please dont drop loose comments about Teshia Hinds, Malcolm X, Hurricane or any of the others who had the manners and interest to show up. Everyone was invited.
November 11th, 2007 at 6:23 am
….oh…and watch the politics between Starcom’s wallet and CBC play out!!!…lol
November 12th, 2007 at 1:47 am
Well Said, Cheez on Dread.
I love all the Bajan artist and I think that if a PROPER Bajan label is ever started that the world will see that we have many many stars here. See how ATL blew up, Barbados could be next we just need help, dont fight and cry down each other, get the Public and Private sector to invest and create a reciprocal relationship. They will invest and in turn it will make Barbados a household name, hell they could just devote the BTA Tourism budget to Entertainment and that would flood the place with Foreign Exchange Returns.
Till then I wanna say keep doing it to all the hard working Artists, Producers, Bands, Media, Djs and Entertainers.
Especially those that work so hard to keep the Entertainment here Alive ALL YEAR ROUND
Studios:
Monstapiece, Moonblast, Triple E, The Cottage Studios, Slam City, Underground, Lethal Studios, Hit Island, CRS, Orange Cloud, Quantam, Tone Def, Big Rock, Beezneez, Commercial Music Inc, De Red Boyz Studio, Madd Studio……..
Live Bands:
Krosfyah, Strategy The Band, Jabae, Electric, Red Alarm, Roadhouse, Kite, Third Stone, Rush Hour, Virtuosity, Nexcyx, Masala……..
Artists: Too Many Talents to Name so Kudos
All Soca
All Gospel
All Hip Hop
All R&B
All Pop
All Reggae
All Dancehall
All Jazz
All Spoken Word
All Genres, ALL ARTISTS
TO THOSE WHO WORK ALL YEAR AND GO UNRECOGNIZED
BIG UPS AND BLESSINGS WITH HEALTH AND WEALTH!
TO ALL THE RADIO DJS: IF YOU PLAY ALL JAMAICAN, TRINIDADIAN, AMERICAN OR EUROPEAN MUSIC THEY WILL FOREVER BE RICH, THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT YOU, WAKE UP. (THEY DON’T PLAY US ALL DAY)
IF YOU PLAY ALL THE QUALITY LOCAL MUSIC, MORE STARS WILL POP UP AND CREATE LOADS OF OPPORTUNITIES.
APART FROM SIGNING AND MONEY, THE STARS (I WILL NOT USE NAMES AS THEY ARE SO MANY ON THIS ISLAND THAT WE ALL KNOW CAN AND WILL MAKE IT) WILL NEED DJS, HYPE MEN, DANCERS, BACKING BANDS, MANAGERS, ENGINEERS, PUBLICISTS, LAWYERS, ACCOUNTANTS AND SO MUCH MORE.
LET’S BUILD UP EACH OTHER, NO DISS TO INTERNATIONAL ARTIST BUT BE FAIR, STOP BIGGING UP MOSTLY ARTIST YOU DON’T KNOW, HAVE NEVER MET OR WILL EVER MEET, SHOUTING DEM OUT AND PLAYING THEIR TUNES WHEN THEIR SHOWS ARE APPROACHING, BEING FRIENDLY AND YOU STILL END UP PAYING DEARLY FOR DUB PLATES AND PROMOS, THEY COLLECT 2,000 – 80,000 FROM OUR ISLAND IN APPEARANCE FEES ETC AND THEN THEY LEAVE THEY DON’T CALL OR RETURN OR CARE.
BIG UP YA OWN AND THEY CAN AND WILL BIG UP YOU!
GOD BLESS!
November 18th, 2007 at 5:37 pm
Hi Barbados Pride
I endorse your comments especially the last part about the spin offs with the employment of various categories of workers. THE PEOPLE WHO CONTROL radio stations in Barbados should be made to see this because when this happens =you know that you have a music industry. I have been preaching this in every forum for sometime now and I am happy that the message is creeping through. That this particular blog has atracted the most comments on boycevoice is a damn good thing and indicative of that fact.
November 19th, 2007 at 12:08 pm
i glad somebody mek um clear, i did saying so long time, but a part buhbadus pride miss out is de fact dat if de djs play 80% international music, ya cud only imagine huh much munney leffin dis so and so place just ta pay dem outside artist in royalties.
i int know why we dont ever accept and support we own, its time fuh we ta learn a lesson from de jamaican music industry and support we own and push we own, but hey i is only a lil man so dum int gon listen ta me or udda people like wunna who int in position to offa lil advice.
November 20th, 2007 at 11:03 pm
Are u seriously telling me that Barbados’ number 1 radio personality “Jon Doe” did not receive a nomination ? Thats total b%$**s*&t
November 21st, 2007 at 2:33 pm
anedda local artist making good sense
November 22nd, 2007 at 1:37 am
jon doe does not read news or educate the masses.
November 23rd, 2007 at 6:05 pm
well like i mention on my website raw blog, “owen arthur suh boa, dat we economy good, but suppose we djs play more local music, i mean like 70-80% local instead of the 25%, u dont think we economy would be even greater, wa looka look, every time a song play, royalties gotta go to de respected parties to whom it belong tuh, so dem djs killing de economy in a sense, but daz anedda ting”.
de internet doing betta tings fuh de local artist dan de radia djs, but i feel if evabody get a lil computa in dum house or a lil seing ta stream intanet radia, soona or lata radia sponsaship gon drop, radia ads gon decrease bcau biznesses gon realise mo peepul lissuning ta de intanet radia dan local radia, and believe you me, simply becau dem dont and dum refuse to play my music, i do not listen to de local radio, i love we local music bad,its only one problem i got wid some local artists and dat some is sing good is charcoal, and when um is time fuh dum ta talk, dum wanna put on uh accent, like peter ram, rusty and dem so, daz why i too love me boy lil rick, 100% bajan right tru, anyways i out and wuffliss fuh now
November 25th, 2007 at 1:12 pm
anedda local artiste
yuh making good sense again especially that part about rick–100% bajan from early 1986–the man is same right true
recently I heard 3 men from a rap group speaking to Tammy on 95.3 –they said that they were local but the interview done and nobody spoke bajan. what i heard was a yankee accent and leh muh tell yuh up to now i aint sure if these men are bajans-or yankee -i am still confused
December 2nd, 2007 at 3:24 pm
Thank you onlooker, Jon Doe can not READ a script properly, he can’t mix a tune, his cds ALWAYS skipping, HE IS A OVER-RATED DJ. That systematic survey that HOTT does to make him seem like #1 is so more ads can be sold in his time…Its a money making thing – not the entire truth. Ads were hardly sold in his shift BECAUSE corporate Barbados refused to advertise once he has to read it so HOTT had to do something about it. If you want to know the djs on any radio that is #1 listening to the amount of ads played during there shift…… Just a little inside info about RADIO. I do agree that there is NOT ONE presenter from HOTT FM. Not Peter Coppin not anyone butttttt…..anyways!!!!
MOVING ON>>>> THIS is BARBADOS MUSIC AWARDS…. why on earth is they make a category for a INTERNATIONAL (so they say) like Machel???? IF so then Bunji should be getting an award, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Beenie Man, Spragga Benz, and the list can contnue.
BMA IS BARE CRAP…… The committee is a pure conflict of interest….friends thing.

it’s sad to see that Hal did not receive more nominations this year. I hear his music all year lon the radio station and not just the heart attack song but that one with Rhea from Teen Talent and Smile … (i loveeee that) I picked up his album back in January when it was released.Does that not put him in the category to be nominated for awards this year? It was clearly after the Barbados Music Awards earlier this year and before October 31 this year…. hmmmm …you music experts tell me. Either way I’ll be there fromt row centre to support Livvi, Shontelle, Rihanna, Hal, kimberley and all the other great artist we have in Barbados…. You should tooo…
…Who know..maybe we could get the organizers sell us the rights to the show and do it RIGHT…
…to the left to the left on Jan 28.
