Happy Barbados 41st Independence; Featuring Ozzy from Oistins
Happy Independence Day!
Today we Bajans are celebrating 41 years of independence. It is the one day that you can turn on any radio station and hear 100% local music all day long. So it is like Xmas for local acts. If you have not been played all year long you are liable to be played today.
I must admit it seems local radio stations have been playing more local music recently I can think of some local songs including “Beautiful Surprise” that before I saw the video I was hearing it on the radio.
Speaking of videos however reminds me of my intended subject today, at the risk of repeating my self and for your entertainment, I want to again bring your attention to bajantube.com. Specifically the video selection Ozzie from Oistins. He is so hilarious then. At 4 o’clock in the morning he made me laugh until my belly hurt me. He gives Madd a run for their money.
I had promoted the site and mentioned Ozzy but had not viewed his clip, it was from reader comments that made me go and check him out. You will never hear such a truly, passionate, sincere and bad sounding rendition of “I Believe” in your life.
Its freaking hilarious! So as an independence treat you should click and check him out. Darron you should sign him before he gets away. Rihanna had better watch out, a new Bajan star is on the horizon
P.S; Maybe we should put him in Bacchanal Time next year…
If during the reading of this blog there is any thing I might have written which might have incensed or offended you, GET OVER IT! I am happy to have stumbled on some local Blogs which I now featured on BajanBlogs.com. The writers have managed to keep my interest and stimulate my not so talented love for poetry writing. I know who is behind the writings of Boyce Voice, no anonymity there. I share the same alma mater and apparently similar water holes. Maybe some of his skills will rub off. But until they do and I remain hopeful, let me share his inspiration
