COSCAP 2007 AGM Report as Boyce see it

headtable-at-coscap.jpg

The good news is, I was not thrown out, the bad news is, I am sitting here at the COSCAP Annual General Meeting at 11.40 am 8th December and everyone is being given voting slips, except me. Maybe I ate too many fish cakes during the break, maybe because I was seen talking to the infamous Darron Grant a known undesirable in the industry. But whatever the reason they are passing out voting slips and ignoring me.

Maybe it’s because I wrote in Boyce Voice in support of Darron and Ronnie so they are making sure I don’t vote.
Know what? I will ask a question…. I just hollered for Gail of Coscap and she walked right pass me. Maybe I am invisible and don’t know it, maybe I got in an accident on my way here and died and I am really a ghost, like Bruce Willis in the movie “6th Sense”.

Ok, I just got Gail’s attention. Apparently I am not dead, worst, I cannot vote. She told me you can only vote after you have been in Coscap for 2 years and I am only joined last year. Don’t know how come Coscap CEO Erica Smith did not inform me of this little significant fact, think I will call and buse her 1st thing Monday morning! Why wait, I will go and speak to Erica now, I had a brief moment and accosted her on how I had bathe and put on my good clothes and now I got here couldn’t vote.

She gave me some corny comment about my presence there should be to show an interest in the business of the Coscap, I was about to buse her but I saw Sach Moore looking at me nasty so I decided to sit down.

There is some confusion over voting methods whether to go by show of hands or ballot. That went on for 30 minutes I was very concerned, all the refreshments had been used during the break, hence there was nothing for non voters like me to snack on during the debate. Finally that was settled and voting was on the way.

Darron Grant just smashed a glass probably in an effort to sway votes, he is either violent or clumsy I am not sure.

At one point there was also a heated exchange between 2 members as it relates to the length of time one could remain on the board, I am sorry I did not have my video camera it would have made a good movie, it was quite exciting.

Chairman Andre Woodvine did an excellent job of chairing the meeting, he was as cool as a cucumber or a banana (I think bananas are pretty cool too).

Here are the elections results of the Directors voted on to Coscap board and remember you read it on Boyce Voice first.

Producer Director
Starchild Music re Sonia Mullins

Publisher Director
Treasure Music re Derek Wilkie

Writer Director

Ronnie Morris

Performer Director
William Smokey Burke

Peter Adonijah Alleyne

Congrats to all the Coscap board members, even Sach. Boyce Voice is quite pleased that Ronnie Morris and Phil Philips got on the board. As for Darron who lost to “Smokey”, I think his mistake was when he tried that “smash the glass” man thing, it just didn’t work. That concludes my report, after reading this Coscap will have another reason to put me out next year.

So nobody discuss the fact that royalties are not being paid to certain artistes in Barbados –artistes such as me-Asiba- The Buffalo Soldier. I have not received royalties since the year 2000

I have not received one cent for the song– Too Much Fat on the Road—-a song that enjoyed HEAVY rotation

    This is a WARNING

Darron Boyce should have a teen website in which people can speak with him about him being on c-Span.

hey I RETURN to this topic months after

I saw someone who i like and respect a lot who told me in response to my post that I did not seem to “grasp” how COSCAP works in relation to the what I wrote in the first post.

For those who I think that I dont understand how it works, let me say that I have been a member of a collection agency namely PRS before many artistes in Barbados knew about royalties. I was introduced to PRS as far back as the 1980s by such persons as SACH MOORE, MIGHTY DRAGON and Mr EDWARD EVELYN -who ran the PRS agency in Barbados.

I am well aware of what is going on
The Thing about COSCAP is that even though I was a member of PRS as longgggg as I have been a member, COSCAP seemed not to know that I was a member of a Society and as a result there was some delay in me getting my royalties.

Again somebody may mis-interpret this last statement. I am not going to explain it further. Llet me see where this goes.

I was told that this website would be able to help me find someone who might be able to help me collect my royalties pending in the USA. My USA publisher is Authorhouse.com

If there is someone here who can help, please contact me. Thanks

    Cheers,
