Hail Steve Minister of Culture
All Hail Steve Blackette who now takes over as our new Minister of Culture in Barbados.
This announcement was made yesterday by Hon Prime Minister Mr David Thompson. Do you know Steve Blackette? You should. He has been working as a freelance announcer on Starcom Network radio station for some years now, I used to do Madd Half hours shows with him on Saturday mornings, so I know him personally.
When I heard Steve was now Minister of Culture, I was cracking my brain trying to remember if at any time we might have disagreed and I had cursed him, there is nothing worse than when you curse somebody and then they end up as Minister over you.
Fortunately that never happened. Steve was always a very likable chap and was always cooperative when I did shows with him.
If he brings that cooperativeness into his management of the cultural industries I am sure all of us should benefit, if he doesn’t, well then I might have to curse him after all.
All jokes aside, Boyce Voice would like to welcome Steve Blackette as the new Minister of Culture, It will be interesting to see the changes a fresh head administrator will make in this industry. Will the Festival Events Bureau still be taking over the running of Crop Over this year? or will it go back to the National Cultural Foundation (NCF)?
Who will be running the NCF? and whose ass is going to get sent home? All these are questions which need to be answered! What questions or suggestions would you have for the New Minister?
If during the reading of this blog there is any thing I might have written which might have incensed or offended you, GET OVER IT! There are many things I read and hear in the media on a daily basis that I don't like either. SO DEAL WITH IT! You are welcome to leave your comments though. Make sure and come back yuh hear !!!...

All Minister Blackette has to do is; flush all the S#@% that is the NCF down the toilet & start from scratch. Appoint people who not only has a brain in their head but has the development of local culture at heart and make sure they have nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo remote type of bloodline connection to anyone in government. And it wouldn’t hurt if they were easy on the eyes either. Carol owe me 2 TVs as it is already LMAO!!!!!

Was I the only one who found it funny when he said last week that he had not yet received the resignation letters from the board and he “was expecting them”? It was like… HINT, HINT!
But they have resigned now so …wha gine happen? I’ve read that preparations for Crop-Over are some months behind – how are they going to catch up? I’ve read that the Festival and Events interim committee is going to be utilised – in what capacity? We all know that the NCF staff will probably be even more thinned out in months to come – there is still no Corporate Communications person since Penny flew off a few months back and some others may be sentoff since their political inclinations are known – how are they going to function without a number of staff? The wondering is killing me :p
