Tribute to Rihanna in Barbados

By now you should have heard about the Celebration Show “Tribute to Rihanna” which will be staged on Thursday in Independence Square Bridgetown. Our Grammy winner Rihanna will be right here in Bridgetown Barbados yuh idiot!
It is quite possible you might not have heard. From a marketing perspective it seems to have been a little low keyed. I would expect there would probably be more promotion of the event over the next two days.
Rihanna will receive a rousing welcome at the airport by a delegation headed by Prime Minister David Thompson and members of Government. An entertainment delegation will then afterwards perform FOR Rihanna doing their unique interpretations of her songs.
Some people might feel disappointed that Rihanna is not performing, but cheese don bread, de woman has been working like Madd winning her Grammy and promoting Barbados. I think it is great that we should give her the privilege of being a distinguished guest of honor and performing FOR her.
What I think is really great about this event is that they are also honoring Jimmy Haynes who really won Barbados’s first Grammy 22 years ago. Thats really cool of them.
The person behind this event is entertainment marketing specialist Phil Philips. Kudos to him and government for putting an event like this together at short notice.
Performing will be Shontelle, Edwin, Livvi Franc, Kidsite, Arturo Tappin, RPB, Lil Rick, Philip 7, Ayana John, Richard Stoute, Mr Dale and others. The Master of ceremonies will be our KB Kleen and Hurricane.
I received a call from a certain manager who was quite prolific and colorful in his discourse aka cursing. He was quite annoyed his artiste was not in the Rihanna show line up and wanted a rassole answer. Boyce therefore put the rassole question to coordinator Mr. Phil Philips who said “it was no disrespect to artistes but at the short notice the event was put together it was just not possible to have everyone on. Therefore they tried to put on at least one person to represent every genre of music”. Philips said “maybe next time you will be chosen”.
I hope that this satisfies said manager ’cause he can get the place hot with cursing when he is ready. He gets the place like “flames” or like he is one of the “crazy people”. Hows that for puddin and souse hints.
Any ways I invite you to go out and support our own Rihanna, and while Phil says he has all genres he does not have poetry represented, we should have our Khadji present one of his poems to Rihanna, I will send this to Phil.
I would like to think that my cursing post “Support Rihanna you Ungrateful Dogs!” would have had something to do with motivating this event to be put together, I have noticed that I am not part of the welcoming committee, so I might have to curse again.
Boyce is leaving the computer….

Peter, Thank you for your plug. When I saw the article in today’s papers I realized that war might break out and I would be dumbfounded by soldiers arriving at my door. Our vehicles of public information and marketing seem more disabled than me. Although I thank for considering me, I am not able to appear MySelf, but I wish that one of my works could be read, or at least someone introduce them to Rihanna. I think it is so important that she sees some of the positive stuff. Here is something written after discovering that Rihanna has an International Believe Foundation. This I wished was read.
The Believe Foundation
There are many kids suffering from life threatening disease
Hapless children facing overwhelming personal tragedies
Epidemic numbers are inflicted world wide
But we callously take this in a leisure stride
Equipment is unavailable and medication short
Lots of them go untreated with no support
Intensive care needed to relieve their agonies
Extensive research carried out for unrelated maladies
Very many suffer with cancer or aids
Endocrinal, neurological or a virus that invades
For too long they suffer until they are weak
Our kids treated like they’re from an untouchable clique
Undesirables with no rights to live
No incentives given for us to give
Doing right by them matters and we need understand
A gift of love is great but money is in demand
To mobilize the people and the machinery
It’s important that we show great charity
Our ill kids need your help and together we will achieve
Now is the time to give! Give to their charity, Believe!

Tribute To Rihanna
The people of Barbados salute with acknowledgements
Rihanna for her many achievements
It is hard to skyrocket, to top her industry
But she has done it with grace and speedily
Unmatched by any other entertainer before
Through her successes she has opened the door
Entertainers in Barbados are now taken more seriously
They owe it to pioneers like Robyn Rihanna Fenty
Our Nation recognizes her talents today
Rihanna is a daughter of our soil with more than an idea
In a time when drugs, sex and ‘bling’ predominates
How important it is that Barbados demonstrates
A solidarity when our people succeed
Nationhood can alleviate the powers of greed
Now that you have shown what you can do
All Barbados is today very proud of you
Look at the message in the left spine
