Back to the NCF
The headline in today’s Nation newspaper is likely to send the calypso fraternity in a panic, “Back to the NCF”.The thought of the administration of Crop Over being put back into the hands of CEO imbecile Estwick is enough to make a person go Madd.
But wait, there is more. The article goes on to state that reports indicate that both Carol Roberts AND Ian Estwick have been dismissed from the NCF (National Cultural Foundation). To this Estwick is reported as saying “He was at work today and expects be at work tomorrow morning (today).” (I have to be careful when I quote Estwick as he threatens to sue me)
Don’t mind he and all that talk. His ass has been terminated! He probably means he will be going in this morning to clear out his desk. He needs to get his ass out and make way for the new guy. Instead of worrying if Estwick is going to be there you need to start guessing who will be the next CEO.
I hate to disappoint Boyce Voicians Ken, Leon and Asiba, but it is not going to be me. While I am overwhelmed by your confidence in my abilities, the diverse responsibilities of such a post along with its restrictiveness would not be congruent with my nature. That is not to say I would not have a tangible contribution to make in another form. More on that later.
The cultural industry need not be deterred by the changes that are occurring. Be assured that all will be well in the final analysis. Boyce gives you his personal assurance of that. I will miss Carol Roberts. I found her to be very effective in the brief time I interacted with her recently.
As for Estwick I am yet to write a fitting epitaph to summarize his NCF CEO stint, but for now I will use two words, GOOD RIDDANCE!
Boyce is leaving the computer!
If during the reading of this blog there is any thing I might have written which might have incensed or offended you, GET OVER IT! There are many things I read and hear in the media on a daily basis that I don't like either. SO DEAL WITH IT! You are welcome to leave your comments though. Make sure and come back yuh hear !!!...

Back to what? What are we going back to? Surely not gross inefficiencies that we have now become so accustomed too. Just when the Calypsonians had started celebrating, the wind has been taken out of their sails and it’s another Sam Lord’s fiasco. But maybe I’m wrong and they are expecting Nelson Comrad Franklyn on the island.
Back To NCF- Nationwide Calypsonians Frustrated
Nation newspaper published that we were going back
And this gives Calypsonians a great big whack
This article had nothing to do with our pedigree
It didn’t speak of European or African ancestry
Or slipping into our past, back to the donkey cart
Nor any old sentiments to touch the heart
We didn’t read of times of old
In days when mary and black bitch were sold
Days gone bye when we had no phone
Everyone was disconnected when they lived alone
Couldn’t see anything on the exhibitions in Queens Park
Any mention of Civic Day or hurrying home in the dark
Lots of talk they had about going back to NCF
You can’t imagine the frustration dey lef’
People , not knowing, asked me what this NCF meant
So I tried to explain, but my time was misspent
Our concept differ to much from the reality
National Cultural Foundation is what it was meant to be
Instead Nebulous Cultural Funding plagues the community
And many believe that this National Committee Faulty
No Consistency For years and No Commensurate Funds.
Some folk getting lion shares, some begging for refunds
For many the threats of No Crop-over Festival loom
Revelers attacked by rebels paint devastating gloom
Usually when they search for solutions, Nahbody Cud Find
Show No Creativity Fuhreal and that the committee blind
The compensation is bad and Now Calypsonians Fruitless
Renditions are great but the artistes meet no success
All this talk about what’s coming back
They should have told us that Calypso under attack
Estwick they mean will be returning to the helm
Devastation will so follow the Calypsonian’s realm
