Good Friday; to see the “Passion of Christ”

passion-picture-jesus-with-cross.jpg

Today is Good Friday! It is a Good Friday for you to go to church and praise the lord, should you even be on a computer today anyway? You evil person you!
In an effort to redeem your soul and mine let’s blog on something religious.

When I was a little boy like two thousand years ago, it was traditional that every Easter Bajans flocked to the cinema (the Roxy or Olympic) to see “The Crucifixion”, a nice conservative movie that would lead you back to the lord.

Then in 2004 you were able to witness the “Crucifixion of Jesus” as you had never seen it before, with the release of Mel Gibson’s controversial movie “The Passion of Christ”.
You winced in your seat as Jesus was beaten mercilessly, his skin ripped away in bloody explosive strips, if that did not bring you to the lord nothing would.
It actually took some people away from the cinema as they were unable to stomach the tortuous scenes.

Was the passion of Christ was it just another commercial attempt for Hollywood and Mel Gibson to make money the movie generated over 370 million dollars while only costing 25 million to make. That’s enough profit to make you praise the lord.

Was ”The Passion” effective in highlighting the cause of Christianity?
Was it successful in getting evil people such as your self who do not go to church on Good Friday but stay home instead reading Boyce Voice to at least be aware of that Jesus died on the cross to save sinners like yourself.

If you do not go to church today the least you can do is rent the “Passion of Christ” and watch over the Easter weekend, if you did go to church I hope you prayed for the rest of us.

A closing note, if you do not take heed of the old bajan saying “not to go in the sea on good Friday for you will drown”,

Take heed that the Metrological office has put out an advisory saying the same thing this weekend, warning sea bathers about dangerous sea conditions, Maybe it’s the power of the lord at work…

Have a “Good Friday!”

As a child GOoD Friday only meant another day off from school. Another day when the adults behaved reverend and we watch how loudly we spoke and our manners. We heard talks of Jesus dying but I never accepted the idea of celebrating this death and why call it good when death is so bad. Now, there is no greater time and none more celebrative than the idea that Jesus died that we might live, that he bore the pain of the cross that we need never have to bear the consequences of sins, if only we would accept that He came, why He came and follow His teachings when He came. A righteous life on earth will be rewarded with a Heavenly place for all eternity, thanks to Him

    GOoD Friday

Great is His love and for us He died
Our Lord and Savior got crucified
On this day in time He gave His life that we
Don’t have to suffer throughout eternity
For this we celebrate although He endured great pain
Remembering for our sins He died and that’s why he came
It was the ultimate show of Love, forgiveness and loyalty
Dying that we might live, for our sins and doing so devotedly
A gift from our Father that was sacrificed in this way
You must honor the reason we celebrate on GOoD Friday

Imagine dying for a cause, having enough faith and belief in something that you are comfortable to endure the level of pain that Jesus sustained. I see many quarrels, sometimes verbal fisticuffs got physical but never have I seen anyone who was prepared for a purpose. This does not make suicide bomber any martyrs since they are trained to understand that they will go out with a blast, painlessly and brainwashed to believe that their families will be taken care of and they will be propelled to Heaven. This has no passion and seems cowardice.

    The Passion Of Christ

There is no one I know who would willingly
Have someone drive nails through them deliberately
Even those who have a passion for something
Prefer life any day and would avoid dying
All my friends and foes and my family
    Speak of their passions enthusiastically
Some get aggressive and their expressions flare
I see how motivated they are and how much they care
Once, just once I would like to hear them say
Nothing matters more than, that they are avid that way
Only then can I start to comprehend
For what Jesus died, why we call Him a friend
Christ endured great pain as part of His plan
Had slashes, a thorny crown and nails through each hand
Regardless to all this before He died
In clear words He unselfishly out cried
Saying forgive them for they know not what they do
This is The Passion of Christ when He died for me and you

    yeah !

    no problem

i however have a somewhat un-easy feeling when i see these actors
i would have to ask the bishop about the sanctity of such ACTS

more often than not they are all white actors
