First of all, you are not paying for a costume (alone) you are paying for an experience, a day of partying that involves, security, music and, assuming its all inclusive, food, drinks and other value added. Any body ever wonder what it costs for all those bigs trucks, DJ's and men holding ropes. By comparison an average all inclusive rate in one of the top TT bands is about US $800. That's 16 hundred Buhbaydus. OK, TT carnival is two days so say half that, that's still $800 Barbados bucks. And by the way those complaining about skimpy costumes are free to wear sheets and fruit baskets on their head, but guess how many people, locals or tourists will be lining up to buy them. Lighten up Crop Over is our version of carnival. People pay to party, and most people complaining wouldn't be caught dead playing mass anywhow.
