I just came off the telephone cursing Wendy Burke, I know it was Sunday and a religious day and I should have held my tongue but when I saw the headline in the newspaper I could not resist the temptation.
I called Wendy Nation Reporter and did a “Dwayne Grazzette”, (well it was not as bad as a “Dwayne” but I was pretty acerbic).

In today’s newspaper there is a headline “Cavalcade First Cook Up draws hundreds”….
“Hundreds? I could not believe my freaking eyes!! Hundreds?
Was Wendy Burke the writer of the article at the same event I was at? where “THOUSANDS” of people had gathered to witness the unofficial inaugural event of the festival.
It was close to ten thousand people at that event and I am not saying that because I coordinated it, that is the truth.
Wendy pointed out to me that when you read the article it says there was over “fifteen hundred strong” people there which therefore says its thousands.  When you read the article it is good other wise and speaks to how smoothly the show went with its timely start and finish and the high standard of entertainment.
But the headline throws it off and is damaging and misleading, I know Wendy has no control over the headline as it is selected by the editor.
But I still feel the word “hundreds” should not have been used in the article at all.
Do you see my headline “the Cursing of Wendy Burke”? My article supports it because I am saying I cursed her.
Note to the Nation editor; your headline needs to be congruent with the content of your article.
The fact is that on Friday night was the biggest Cavalcade launch they ever had; I was informed of that by a reliable NCF source.
Don’t take my word for it; ask Kidsite or any body that was there.
And don’t take my word that I called Wendy Burke and cursed her, when you see her ask her and she will tell you I cursed her to kingdom come.

P.S; I had to text her back and wish her happy Mother Day afterwards…

I almost curse the Chairman of the National Cultural Foundation last week, fortunately I was able to bite my lip and contain my self hence I am still working with the NCF.
I was at the NCF media launch of crop over which was held on Friday last week at Accra Hotel and I was there in the audience as the coordinator of 2008 Cavalcades.
Chairman Ken Knight in his address spoke about how the non traditional media had been invited to the event in addition to the mainstream news outlets.
Then I realized that two web sites were in attendance calypsonians.com and Bajan fuh life.com.
And my question was like, so what happen to BoyceVoice.com? wha we ent nobody..?
I was planning to take the microphone during the question session and lambaste from CEO Vere back down to NCF workers Lorna and Karen Pestina. Then I realized that Bajan reporter.com was not there nor kadoment.com, and if Barbados Underground was there they were underground as I didn’t see them, So then I didn’t feel so bad.
It is good that NCF has at least started to recognize that we on the web are important enough to warrant an invitation to media events and we would expect that in the fullness in time more sites would be included, even the cursingly colorful Boyce Voice.

Marilyn Monroe, did she or didn’t she?

Some weeks ago New York memorabilia dealer Keya Morgan claimed that he sold a sex tape for 1.5 million dollars which consisted of the original blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe performing oral sex on an unidentified man for 15 minutes.

Keya claimed that this tape was verified by official FBI documents and J Edgar Hoover him self had viewed the tape and spent time trying to figure out if the man in the film was John F Kennedy or Robert F Kennedy (apparently those Kennedy brothers had a lot in common).

A tape that features Marilyn Monroe on her knees giving oral sex sounds a bit far fetched to me, to convince me you would have to send me a copy so I can view it like 50 or 60 times for research purposes of course.
What is a law enforcement agency like FBI doing with sex tapes any way; it would seem to me the F in FBI stands for more than federal.
Keya claimed that the footage was shot back in the 50’s, which was news for me; I did not know that sort of verbal sexual activity existed back then

Those of you who are concerned over what this tape does to the memory of Marilyn Monroe, maybe you can relax as the claims of Keya Morgan and his credibility itself is now being questioned.
The FBI is now claiming that its records do not confirm the existence of this tape and people are now calling Keya a fraud who is seeking publicity.

So the question remains, Marilyn Monroe, did she or didn’t she?

Where were you when Michael Jackson’s Thriller music video made its debut on television 25 years ago?

In 1983 Thriller was unleashed on to television screens thrilling audiences with its special effects and thrilling dance moves. Veteran movie director John Landis directed it, he had been specially chosen by Jackson because of the work he did in “An American Werewolf in Paris”. Michael wanted Landis to change him into a horrific werewolf like what he had seen in that movie.

Thriller started a phenomenon that exists up to now. You would have seen its influence in Madd’s effective 2004 stage presentation “Hard Ears” which featured dancing ghouls.
