Crop Over Thanks Giving Church Service Report

Me in Church beside Norman Barrow of A&B Music

I am where you should be on Sunday morning, not where I always am but should be, that is in church.

I have made the long trek down to St Lucy Parish Church to participate in the Crop over 2008 thanks giving service.
Minister of Culture Blackette, NCF Chairman Knight, Senator and Culture P.S Sandiford, NCF CEO and staff every one is here.

Rev Goodridge Preaching

The preacher presiding is the Rev Curtis Goodridge he gave quite an engrossing sermon which I am sure captivated the government officials present. Especially when he said the Ncf should take some of the money it makes from Crop Over and give a bonus to the sugar workers, if Ncf people were sleeping that would have woken them up.
The sermon was concise and effective but they had you singing a million hymns, of which I enjoyed one, the one “Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life” that song hard!
Here’s a word of caution health wise, this church uses incense in its worship which while aromatically pleasing to some could present a challenge to those with breathing afflictions aka asthma.

I enjoyed the Crop Over poem presented by the children and the performance of Sister Marshall who encouraged us to “walk holy”.

Sister Marshall singing “Walk Holy” I almost got up and danced

All in all it was interesting religious event and I want to thank St Lucy Parish church for tolerating Crop Over “sinners” like me into their fold.

In closing please note that when it was broadcasted on CBC TV later that evening and I seemed to be texting on my phone in all the shots, it was because I was writing this post for you sinful lot, May the lord bless you and have a good day.
