Lil @#$% Jon: Cohobblopot headliner
Just to show there is no hard feelings, this morning I am going to give Cohobblopot some free promotion! Lets focus on the latest addition to the Crop Over National Festival Cohobblopot, American Rap artiste Lil Jon.
Lets take some time to peruse some lyrics of Mr lil Jon, here”s his song ‘Bitches aint Sh*t’.
Back in the days i use to like bitches
But i tell you now days bitches aint sh*t
And if you wonder why i say this
I’ve had a lot of women and bitches think they slick
Sneakin’ around f**kin’ around whenever were not around
Actin’ all sophisticated spending money that she didnt make
I get so mad that i could slap her actin like she cleopatra
Aint no need to ask shes a slave to tha money and im the master
Thats why i smoke sunday monday tuesday wednesday thursday friday saturday
Dont let no girl no bitch (hey) no man no nigga get in my way
I keep my gun with me (always) for peace i keep it right by my side
Big nate long beach we’ll keep Lil’ Jon tight beat
Whoa, that is what you call hard hitting lyrics, I now see why Soca Queen Alison Hinds and Mr Dale could not get on Cohobblopot. Decision makers at the National Cultural Foundation have F@#king out done them selves in their attempt to deepen our cultural awareness. I take my F@#king hat off to them, I am learning something from Lil Jon already…

If during the reading of this blog there is any thing I might have written which might have incensed or offended you, GET OVER IT! There are many things I read and hear in the media on a daily basis that I don't like either. SO DEAL WITH IT! You are welcome to leave your comments though. Make sure and come back yuh hear !!!...

Lil’ Jon??
What are they trying to prove with this?
It is insulting to all the artistes that got left off the card. It’s a slap in the face.
I am in complete shock. If bajans cared anything about the artistes and the music industry in Bim they would boycott said show… HINT HINT

Are we aware that this man has a colab with Machel Mantano? I guess not that why its and issue. I dont see him being on the stage past 1 performance anyway.

LIL JOHN ?———–I Dislike this rapper more than any other
The man is so loud, a real mother trucker
To have Lil Jon in Bim at this time is wrong
And the artistes must deal with this in song

Lil” Jon at Cohobblopot, my God! We got to be careful that they don’t have him singing the Barbados National Anthem next. Unfornutatley for me i was unable to obtain the full dynamics of this headline. and I’m quite sure this to-do has upset plenty soca fans as well as the artistes. In this situation there has to be a lot of variables involved, a lot of behind the scene actions has taken place that we the fans wouldn’t have the slightest idea or normally wouldn’t venture to think that far ahead. Personally i like to see the collaborations of artistes, the involvement and participation of foreign acts on our local stages, it;s sad to say but we as Bajans has always extended our form of hospitality to the maxx, we would bring a foreign guest to our house and give him the biggest pork chop, or give the the toilet paper while we use the newspaper we always bow in these situations. Yes he is a hard core lyricist, so what? Maybe some good would come out of this, it is all net working, widening the horizons of the music industry. One hand washes the other, to those artistes that were deleted from stage due to this act, I’m sorry, i kinda feel the misery this brings, keep tracking on. and to the fans, don’t be so hasty in judging, i believe the NCF have really put some thought to this hope fully they will receive the long term results they are after.

Despite the fact we must accept Caricom and Integration or be insular and perish, I do LOVE Peter’s subtle and polite response - shows Madd should not have dissed the Olde Scorpion in public with that ad, LOL! But Socalover, ya right - Lil John, Pitbull & Machel have tunes and free downloads out there… We have to get used 2 da fact that other elements will be part of Kadooment! It should not even be called Crop Over anymore - what sugar? Please! Go 2 Bajan Reporter and see my views on Montano

Three things - my previous comment is yet to be printed; Lil John Never cursed (he came close, but Machel reign him in) and Cohobblopot was rammed - wh’appen to Euphoria?
PS - As a Copyrights/Intellectual Property rights advocate… Will you remove the phrase “bMADD as ass” as you are no longer with that group?

music scene getting interesting in barbados
some people are being ignored
some people are given every opportunity to progress
elitism has raised its ugly /colonial/racist in origins head
as we move forward we need to emphasise fairness
and fair play not favour and favouritism or political yardfowlism
we need to look after each other and look for each other
divided we stand ; united we fall
study ya head people !

all that being said, lil jon put down a good performance

As a footnote to the foregoing, I went To Cohoblopt and I must say who did not go missed a show of shows. Machel was fantastic. The man is a boss and it would do some of the local artiste well to take a leaf from his book. He was not the only one that was great. Krossfyah was the bomb as well. I also would like to take the opportinity to plead with the local artiste to stop airing their laundry in public. When an artiste can get on stage and say he only has 5 mins and others had 5 hours, I find that to be in poor taste, and if I had the power personally they could not be on another show. Its rediculous how they are behaving. There is no where in this world that some of the locals could match the performance that machel and his ppl put on on Sunday Nite. from the 1st song, my $60 was burnt.

August 6th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
ok, how about a review of euphoria now
August 7th, 2008 at 2:38 am
green camo is a metaphor for what ?
August 7th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
Boyce I haven’t seen any comments ffrom you on the two ads from madd entertainment
you very silent. De cat got ya tongue
August 9th, 2008 at 10:03 am
I mentioned the Green Camouflage because I find it interesting that the nCF and other promoters featured numerous international and reggae artists and not one sight of David Kirton with his Green Camouflage song…. Crop Over encourages development of a localized sound and supports only those who play that. Crop Over should have all genera’s and gov performance money should be spread to all sectors of the industry.

This is Asiba -The Buffalo Soldier
I have known Don for a long time
He is an honourable man. Please give him the chance to explain and to clear whatever mess there is to be cleared. Yes I did see him Finals night while I was at the VIP gate.
Being at the VIP gate was an interesting exercise. Here I was standing and observing who were going through that VIP gate. I noted that Calypsonians -longtime or newbies –did not go through the gate. I asked myself the question : Are calypsonians VIPs in the Crop- Over Festival ? This is not a criticism of who went through the gate because I accept and recognize that the NC F must and should cater to their Sponsors and others who make contributions to our culture and to overall development. I am just saying that standing there at the gate caused me to reflect and asked the question. Of course one is always looking for material
Calypsonains built this Crop Over thing : we invested money into the Festival and we continue to do so. The returns have been minimal. How many Calypsonians benefit from Crop Over after all the sacrifices ?
The first season I sang Calypso in a Tent, I received thirty(30) dollars at the end of the season. As a matter of fact, everybody received the same money because after expenses what was left was divided equally. Personally I felt as though I was making a contribution to Barbados and that I was helping in the building of something beneficial to my country.
Over the years we the CALYPSONIANS have spent loads of money on costumes, arrangements, recordings and other activities associated with making a festival . We made a proposal to the NCF that they provide money to help us with the cost of props on stage during their competitions (SEMIFINALS & FINALS) because it is very costly and if you dont win the competition you can be out some big bucks.
In case you are not aware, we the calypsonains spend money on props to make an NCF show happen—-utterly ridiculous !
-the moneyasked for has not been forthcoming
Tents in Barbados are at the crossroads and something must be done to assist their development and survival if they are to survive. Maybe the concept of the Tent has become obosolete. The Tent is used to feed artistes into the NCF competitions. Maybe the competitions should be abolished and the Tents could become a greater part of the Festival which should become more of a Music Festival
