I have been listening to the comments on The Amateur Model Show, I think the judges are the most unprofessional I have ever seen internationally and its them who need training first. How can you degrade ( demotivate ) such innocent young ladies on public television and expect them to improve. Then you say to them its for our good. Come on Kingsley, first be the master of your own mind then try to control others. If I was they parents i would file a civil suit for defamation of character. Their are much better ways to help a person than to degrade them so bad. I am most disappointed, this show needs banning and the law makers of this island need to be held accountable for allowing such garbage to surface. take a leaf from the photographer, she was so professional, compassionate yet she showed them areas of weakness and personal taste has nothing to do with the job you have to do. As a designer you should be ashamed of yourself. Other people designed the outfits. So do what is the proper thing. Help up not help down. You leave a truly nasty taste according to mad man…

I agree with Friendlychef, I do not understand how the ppl at CBC allows this garbage to continue. I think that the show limits the talent as they put amateur, obviously that is what you are going to do. Meanwhile, as we love to try to copy other things from other people, why can’t we try to copy other things are positive also. Like a good training session for these girls, starting with the judges, yes Kingsley included. Speech and walk, I think that would a great asset. Another thing is the person playing the music stuck on one type of music? playing over one song over and over again?? I think that the other judges should include someone who is a model who is easily recognized and known for great fashion experience. Who is the ex-model Sheffean? i mean really. This show was for those who could try to improve themselves and try to live their dream but honestly, if you do not have the resources to carry on a show properly, leave the idea in a bag until you can do so.

I agree with Friendlychef and Diamond, Kingsley Thorne is the “star” of the show. It is not about him, it is about the amateur girls vying for a chance to make it on the international runway. The judges and organisers need to look in the mirror first before they insult, degrade and humiliate someone. They need to learn to speak proper english to begin with and to put over a point/give advice in a less aggressive manner. I don’t care how long or how many places Mr. “Snap-his-neck-swing-his-head-like-a-lil-bitch” has judged, he needs to be removed from the show, he is a joker. Please CBC, you can do much better than airing this mediocrity, this show is a waste of man hours/production time. We as Bajans need to stop “copycatting” and come up with something original for once.

It is about time that we stop allowing downright crap to be shown on TV. I totally understand that CBC’s viewership goes up when the Barbados Amateur Kingsley Show is on TV but is this what we want to show our children? He speaks poor English and he shows the entire world that he is uneducated.
People try to compare him to Simon from American Idol but Simon speaks the truth, it makes sense and he is an industry professional. Mr. Thorne is not a designer, he cannot design anything and is an extremely bad example.
What positives has he ever produced? Name 1 and I will be shocked. Please dont tell me Ebony models because there is not one “real” model that has been with is agency for 3 years.

My Goodness I am surprised no-one on this thread attacked any of the guest judges of which I was one. I tried to be as fair as possibly with the girls who all have potential. However, the show needs structuring – there are many types of Amateur models – print, screen, hand. feet, leg, thigh, runway, hair, eyes, teeth etc which type of model does the show seek to develop? Each model needs to be assessed on the basis of their strengths and TOLD during the audition stage the category of modeling best suited for her. She should be given the tools to develop so that each week we see the girls in their individual forums trying to determine if this career is really for them or not. I have to honestly say that the Barbadian public loves the show because BARBADIANS love to laugh at other people – they love when people make an ass of themselves on National TV – Do any of you really think that the show would have the ratings it gets if an Industry Professional took the place of Kingsley? The answer would be NO because the public would say ” who de hell is he or she? dem feel dem is sumbody cuz dem do dis or dat??” As for Sheffian – I do not know what her claim to fame is because I have been in the pageantry & fashion industry since I was 16 years old (giving me 13 years of experience) and I have never heard of her modeling outside of Barbados or even on a Barbadian Stage. She tries too hard to imitate Kingsley, she viciously insults the girls and is very frightening to look at. It is all about ratings and I watch it to laugh bad like anybody else sorry to say. It is a stress reliever for me and many people who don’t have anything else to watch on local tv (thank god for cable) who turn down many good programs by the way – They want shows but they don’t want to pay people for their footage – they would rather you give it to them to show, turn around and pay for the airtime while they benefit without spending ONE CENT. It takes all kinds to make up the world so it is not fair to attack a person’s sexuality – however; I believe that the girls need to be spoken to and treated with dignity & respect. ……but then again having won a CARIBBEAN FASHION AWARD for best MODELING SHOW IN THE CARIBBEAN they may think that the show needs no improvement….By the way it is Kingsley Thorne who actually gives the winner & runner’s up of this competition the opportunity to participate at other Caribbean Fashion Shows through his company EBONY MODELS & is not given an ounce of credit for it.
