The “Entertainment Experience”

Monday is the night I go to the movies, 8.30 pm the Globe Cinema is the choice of P Boyce.
My Face book friends often query this “strange” behavior “wha I see that movie weeks ago I coulda burn that for you” or “you could have gone on www see movies free.com and watch that for free on your computer, why you wasting money?”
Well let me tell you why I leave home go to the movies, for the “entertainment experience”.
I enjoy the anticipation of simply “going to de theatre” looking forward to a night out.
I enjoy viewing the poster displayed outside the cinema promoting the movie which helps to heighten your anticipation of seeing the same film.
I look forward buying my theatre pop corn, hot dog and soda to snack on as I view the flick.
Then the cinema darkens and they pull the curtains the night’s entertainment begins with the “Coming Attractions” wetting your appetite for the flicks to come.
Sometimes the coming attractions are better than the movies them selves.
I love to sit back and view my movies on a big screen and I don’t tell me you got a 60 inch TV, I mean the massive cinema scope larger than life dimensions you get only in the theater.
I love my Dolby stereo and surround sound where the audio brings you into the movie.
It is a total escape, you don’t have your wife telling you the T.V to loud or your kids vex cause they want to use the computer.
You get away from your worries, bills and ringing phones, well if you turn your cell off.
It is the social interaction as you and the audience become as one,
It is entertainment experience that I am after, stop home and view movie down loads on an 18 inch computer screen? I think not!
If during the reading of this blog there is any thing I might have written which might have incensed or offended you, GET OVER IT! There are many things I read and hear in the media on a daily basis that I don't like either. SO DEAL WITH IT! You are welcome to leave your comments though. Make sure and come back yuh hear !!!...

Not only that, no one likes to work and not get paid so why be a thief and take money from those who work hard to give us entertainment.
Like you I like to go to the cinema. I like munching on sweets, popcorn and drinking juice, and the atmosphere is relaxing and wonderful.
Well done Peter!

my only caveat is that cinemas here are not friendly to even the mildly physically challenged but you are right, a movie is never the same on DVD and computers are not home entertainment centers. Piracy does no one any favours and I have heard people quarrel if their music gets pirated – in my opinion if you ever watched a pirated product or have a ‘dream box’ set up you cannot complain. Wha’ goes roun’ comes roun’!

Boyce I know exactly what you mean. I still get a thrill whenever I am going to a movie. Almost everything you said that you like about the experience – temporary escape from life’s problems, looking at the movie posters and viewing “Coming Attractions” – I also like. Except that I try to eat at home so I don’t usually buy food. Call me Ali Singh if you like. LOL
There is nothing like watching a movie on a big screen. However I only go to movies where it is better to see them on the big screen, for example sci-fi/action movies like Iron Man, Lord of The Rings, Transformers, The Matrix, etc.
While I like dramas just as much as any other genre, I usually wait to see them on DVD. Unless it is a drama that has created so much buzz that I can’t wait for the DVD, for example “Ray” a few years ago and now “Slumdog Millionaire”. That is a great movie and will probably win the Oscar for best picture. Go see it if you haven’t already.

Your sentiments are like mine Marc, its certain movies like your list Batman spiderman etc I have to see on wide screen,I have heard about slum dog movie and its up for all these awards so I must see it as well
Of course face book people are invited fenelle, we need to fill up the cinema
That’s a good point about accomodating the disabled dorielle, think the Olympus does that though, they have a ramp
Thank you Lyn, I believe in going to the cinema to support legitimate industry as well, as you and Marc said, there’s nothing like a good movies night out,
I am so hooked on a cinema that if I start to watch a dvd and realise it is an outstanding picture, I will stop the dvd and wait till it comes out in the cinema,
I consider watching a good movie on dvd first a waste, and as for those burn dvds, I don’t event look at them
