“8 Cent” Ronnie Morris CD Now Out

ronnie-morris-cd-cover-2008-email.jpg

Hello People, Today we will take a break from cussing and check out this new CD that has recently been released, Ronnie Morris sent me this photo and media write up which I will now publish for your entertainment edification.

My comments on above picture; what’s with the shirt off thing Ronnie? do you realise you do not have any muscles? It might help that when you go for a shirtless look like this that you have some muscularity within the vicinity, example look at this picture of 50 cents…

50-cent-pictures-75.jpg

See the difference? This is how you should look when you take your shirt off Ronnie, so as it relates to muscles if we were comparing you to 50 cents, we would have to call you 8 cents Ronnie!

While he might be 8 cents in muscularity, Ronnie is rich as it relates to talent, here is his overview of his CD Album which is now out, watch for an audio release on Boyce Voice soon..

“Ronnie Morris’ self-titled 6-track album is officially in stores islandwide! The album boasts new material from the young singer, including the Deepu-Panjwani-produced “More”, a lush remake of the DeBarge classic “In A Special Way” which he performed at the 2008 Barbados Music Awards, and the Brad Griffith and Sebastian Llegall-produced reggae scorcher “Send Me A Love”, which is sure to ignite regional radio. Also featured on the album are Deception, More Than Words and Remember When It Rained, all high-quality tracks in keeping with the output of this award-winning recording and performing artiste. The album is available islandwide for just $25! Go get your copy today!

And that’s the end of the release from 8 cent Ronnie…..

Mighty Gabby; The $6000 Man

gabby-picture.jpgI now see why Gabby did not want to let go of that cultural ambassador job. I don’t blame he. You know what is $6000.00 a month plus $350 traveling allowance? That is what the Nation newspaper is reporting Anthony “Gabby” Carter was paid monthly for being our cultural ambassador.

Maybe we should be celebrating that it was recognised that an entertainer was worth $6000 per month. It is however, unfortunate that this same financial latitude was not extended to other members of the entertainment fraternity. I remember the meager increase in Party Monarch prize monies which was granted by government in 2007. Also last year, I remember how NCF CEO Estwick took back an event pass from Captain Sawyer and other calypsonians because they did not judge in the calypso competitions. Government could even give a $40 ticket to calypsonians further less substantial monies.

The fact that Gabby was paid $6000 monthly, we should not be vex. I also see that Philip Goddard was getting $15000.00 a month and he can’t even sing. Gabby should have been getting more. But the same monetary fairness should have been applied to other entertainment entities across the board.

What is good for the goose is good for the gander…
(Not that I am calling Gabby a goose and you a gander but you know what I mean)

I am a Michael Jackson Fan; (Keep it in the closet)

michael-jackson-glove-picture.jpg

I am always letting out my deep dark secrets in this blog here’s a next which a lot of people do not know.

I am a Michael Jackson fan!
I think his “Dangerous” CD is one of the greatest albums ever made, I even like it more than the mega hit “Thriller”.
I have not liked any thing he has done recently but his past hits “Smooth Criminal”, “Dirty Diana” “Man in the Mirror” even “Ben” I think they are the greatest ever.

Of course what Michael Jackson has become famous for these days, admitting you are a fan of his is not a good thing. Referring here to those child molestation allegations which brought down his career.
Also, admitting you are a fan of a 49 year old man who talks like a 9 year old girl and has hair and wears make up like a 39 year woman is not cool, I should say I am a fan of his music and not of him.

Here’s a tip I have learnt; Never drive your car and listen to Michael Jackson music up loud!
One morning I was driving my car listening to “Smooth Criminal” with the volume up and I happened to slow down by a bus stop, so there I am singing the chorus “Annie you OK, are you OK Annie” to the top of my voice and dancing as much as I can while behind the wheel of a car. Then I turned and made eye contact with scores of people at the bus stop looking at me in shock. There were some school boys who looked particularly horrified, like they were going to pick up their feet and run at my slightest movement. Its like everyone was thinking “there’s one of them Michael Jackson pervert freaks!”
Don’t let that happen to you people, keep your Michael Jackson addition “in the closet”.
Well now you know another one of my secrets, at least I am man enough to say it out loud.
I LOVE MICHAEL JACKSON! Well at least his music that is, just don’t let any one know, keep it between us on Boyce Voice.

Boyce is moon walking away from the computer…

The Gabby Cultural Ambassador Controversy

gabby-picture.jpgWho gabby think he is….

I waiting to cuss he stink

Who gabby think he is…

Before you get all excited and telephone Gabby with the news that Boyce say he gun curse he, the opening you see above are lyrics from Gabby’s own calypso “Who Gabby think he is”.

Which brings me to my point, Gabby seems to think he will be Cultural Ambassador forever. Anthony “Gabby” Carter is more than my friend, he gave Madd comedians our first big break performing in Battleground calypso tent when we had just left Combermere in 1982. I have a tremendous respect for Gabby; you need to read one of my first posts “What the ass is a cultural ambassador anyways?” where I lamented that Gabby was not given enough real power and authority to go with his prestigious title.

However, the Government has changed and protocol dictates that all ambassadors and boards of directors appointed by the previous administration make their resignations available to the new government. I read in the newspaper where ambassadors from New York, United Kingdom, Africa and Timbuktu have sent in their resignation letters. But not Gabby. He is maintaining his position and waiting to see what the new Minister will do.

So all the remarks wunna drop, saying that Gabby like he “switch sides” and how he sing pun de DLP celebration motorcade, even Kidsite throw a song punch at he at the Rihanna tribute show. But Gabby is not budging.

Lets vote on it Boyce Voicians. Do you think Gabby should relinquish the post of cultural ambassador as protocol dictates or were you so happy with his tenure you would like him to continue? VOTE NOW!

Ian Estwick Terminated

The Entertainment Industry is celebrating! albeit cautiously. The cultural grapevine has been rife with the word that Ian Estwick has been terminated as CEO of the National Cultural Foundation.

Halleluiah! Praise the Lord! Calypsonians are happy. Dancers are happy. NCF workers are happy and Boyce Voice is happy too.

As you can see from our Boyce Voice poll, Estwick has not been faring too well either. A massive 68 % of voters said a resounding no to Estwick being CEO. A small misguided and probably bribed 14% said yes, 7 % were unsure and 11 % didn’t care.

I would like to thank you all for participating and curse the 18% who voted unsure and didn’t care, u should have voted no! Unsure my foot, if you find me to be bias you are right, I am Peter Boyce not Peter Wickham!

I have sent the results of this poll along with my analysis to our new Prime Minister David Thompson for his perusal but from what I am hearing it might not be needed.

Let’s just hope that the news is true and that Ian Estwick - who has been the worst CEO who ever presided over the National Cultural Foundation - has had his rule of cultural tyranny brought to an end.

The opinions expressed in this blog are not necessarily those of management, its just the Voice of the Boyce.

K B Kleen Apologises

My beloved Barbados. I am a tried and true professional in the entertainment business for over 25 years.

Last night at the tribute to Rihanna (On Feb 21st 2008)I realize that some of my comments and actions may have offended some of you. Comments that may have been misinterpreted to be disrespectful of rank or position could have been unclear.

Let me state that I have the highest regard for the Right Hon. David Thompson, the Prime Minister and leader of our great Nation and, at any point, would do nothing to destroy the relationship we have developed since our school days at Combermere.

Last night, just after the PM’s arrival I may have called him David due to fact that I am so familiar with him as an individual. However, when it came to formal introductions, I did indeed refer to the Prime Minister with clear and proper protocol and regard.

At this time , let me seize the opportunity to apologize to Barbados, special guests and our new Ambassador, Rihanna and anyone I may have offended.

“Rihanna eats her own cake even if you are Chris Brown”

I met a lady yesterday who screamed at me “Boyce Voice yuh Rihanna Freak!”If you check almost all the stories on the site right now are about Rihanna, and for good reason too.

Plus out of the 10 most popular posts I have written 7 were on Rihanna including my famous Exclusive Interview with Rihanna which is my number one most read post.
I tried to get close to Rihanna recently for another interview but apparently security had been warned and I was apprehended, that’s why I had Ingrid taking pictures.
I also tried to be included in the airport welcoming party but was denied access by event organiser Phil Philips, acting no doubt under advice from Interpol, the FBI and Police Commissioner Darwin Dottin.

Despite these legal challenges, I endeavor to continue to pursue Rihanna disregarding the “stalking” charge which was recently made against me.

I felt sorry for her being accompanied by people like Chris Brown when I know she would prefer to be with the Boyce. Enough said!

Tomorrow I will be dropping a Hot story that will not be about Rihanna but about new developments in the local cultural industry. LOG ON THEN…

Want to thank all of you for logging on and making yesterday the highest number of hits since we have been running Boyce Voice.

Cultural Ambassador Rihanna and Chris Brown in Barbados

Wow that was quite a show last night! The Tribute to Rihanna musical celebration.
All the honour and gifts Rihanna received and deservedly so, including her being designated the distinguished title of Honorary Youth and Cultural Ambassador to Barbados by the Prime Minister.
Also she received a plot of land a jeep and was entertained by dynamic local acts.
Surprise guest last night was a special appearance by American singer Chris Brown who had the ladies screaming.
Here are some exclusive and candid photos compliments Ingrid taken last night.

The local acts last night were excellent and a credit to Rihanna, Starcom radio News dept telephoned during the broadcast to say that people were calling the station and complaining on some aspects of MC KB Kleen’s presentation.
The job of Master of Ceremonies is never an easy one, “space filling” and keeping things on track can sometimes be a challenge.
