Chris Brown hitting Rihanna? is he Mad?

rihanna-and-chris-hug-picWhat could have possessed Chris Brown’s brain that he could think could raise his hand and hit our Bajan Superstar Combermere Queen Rihanna?

Hast he eaten from the root of ignorance, is he on drugs or is he just a dumb ass?

There we were looking for Rihanna to perform at the Grammys last night and to see her win some more awards and shout out “Barbados this one is for you” one more time.

Next thing we hear this morning how Chris Brown and Rihanna were driving on their way to Grammys got in an argument and Brown injured a Fenty in her face and turned himself into Police. As a result of the incident neither of them made it to the awards.

When you look at a superstar of the stature of Rihanna her face, her legs, her entire body is worth millions of dollars.Look at all the lucrative endorsements Rihanna is involved in, Clinique, Nike, JC Penny Jeans and you would see what Brown threatens when it crosses his little brain to hit her.

Rihanna needs to set an example for all the females out there who have been hit by stupid ass men, press charges against Brown and leave his dumb chewing gum endorsement ass.  Rihanna is way bigger than Chris Brown and she doesn’t need to be associated to have him to help her career.

I already told my son I don’t want to hear him listening to Chris Brown music or watching his videos again, Chris Brown he needs to see Rihanna Fenty and dont see she, good!

Brown should now be Persona non grata  as it relates to him visiting Barbados in the future and if Rihanna doesn’t leave his ass, it’s going to be me and her or to bajanise it “me and she”!

All Hail Hal Linton

All Hail Mr. Hal Linton!
It’s good to finally seeing a Bajan male finally making impact internationally, I read in the media of Evan Rogers who discovered Rihanna now has his own label “Syndicated Rhythm Production”.
Rogers also stated it’s the Barbadians he has signed to his label that is making him a force to be reckoned with in the international world. Those artistes would be superstar Rihanna, Shontelle Layne and now Hal Linton.
Hal would have been his most recent addition and Rogers said there is extreme interest in him from music industry executives.

Linton has already been a winner four times at our Barbados Music Awards, Song of the year, best new artiste, song Writer of the year and R and B single of the year. The song that put him on the map is “Cardiac Arrest” which we are featuring below.

I wrote a post in February querying if a Bajan male singer would need to have a sex change and become a woman in order to attract the attention of the international world. http://www.boycevoice.com/blog/2008/02/03/i-want-to-be-a-woman/
Hal Linton was one of the talented males I mentioned that was deserving of world wide recognition.
In fact now that I think, it’s probably Boyce Voice that brought the attention of the world to Hal.
In which case we are probably deserving of some commission or something, I’ll get Evan’s cell number and give him a call…

In the mean time click below and view Hal performing “Cardiac Arrest” as we celebrate him making it internationally.

Lady Rihanna; Making Barbados and Combermere Great

Rihanna Fenty continues to take the world by storm, bringing honor and credit to Barbados and Combermere School!

I know there are some people that don’t like to hear combermere but I will get back to that, let’s not digress.

Lady Fenty’s latest success is the winning two awards at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles last weekend,
Favorite Female Artiste in the soul/R&B category in addition to Favorite Female Artiste in Pop/Rock.

In February there were some persons who sought to cast aspersions on the act of government honoring Rihanna making her a Barbados Ambassador, since then her achievements continue to more than justify this title.

Even as we go into independence with Rihanna’s latest win we should be recognizing and celebrating her latest accolade as well.

Because of Rihanna I now see Barbados being mentioned in international web articles that would not have spit on us before.
Also I am seeing mention of Combermere as well, of course you know that was always a great school, but it is now being officially recongnised internationally as the school that Rihanna attended.
Do you hear Beyonce saying what school she attended or Alicia Keys? No! But you hear that Rihanna went to Combermere that is why we are so freaking great!

So Congrats to Lady Rihanna Fenty (and I use lady deliberately) on her latest international win and for continuing to bring credit to our nation.

Tomorrow I will be cursing American Media on Rihanna’s behalf, log on then!!
In the mean time I leave you with this clip of Rihanna perform hit ”Rehab” at the American Music Awards, click below…

David Kirton Going places

Our local artistes continue to make impact internationally, Rihanna, Shantell, Livi Frank etc… and believe it or not a MAN is also reaping some success.
Remember some time ago I wrote about how only women were making being recognized internationally and it was looking like I would have to get a sex change to make it big?
Well after I saved up all that money up for the operation David Kirton is giving us hope there is still something out there for us men….

Here’s some info his manager/wifey Noelle sent out regarding David’s latest milestone.

David Kirton signs with UK Number # 1 Music Distributor.

David Kirton’s live performance at the 2008 Royal Chelsea Flower Show produced more than vibes among the beautiful and exotic blooms it also secured a distribution deal with the United Kingdom’s # 1 music Distributor Nova Pinnacle. His award winning album Time for Change will be launched in the UK September 30th. Kirton’s guitar driven
hybrid of rock – pop and reggae  moves past the reverent Caribbean
rhythms of the past and on to the airwaves, dance floors and digital
devices of future. It sits comfortably in play lists surrounded by
Jack Johnson, Nora Jones, Sting, Bob Marley, Seal and Ben Harper.
Kirton’s fans are not looking for prison stories, hate messages or
graphic sex songs to download on their ipod.  His music touches the
heart, head and feet, making you feel, think and dance.
Kirton pulled a hat trick at the 2008  Barbados Music Awards  winning

Reggae artist of Year, Reggae Song of Year (Green Camouflage)  and Best video. He was also nominated for the coveted Entertainer of Year.

Congrats to David Kirton and management  from Boyce Voice!

The Bag Controversy

The Perennial Red Plastic Bag

Have you been hearing all the heehaw and debate that has been occurring because the National Cultural Foundation decided to honour Red Plastic Bag for the contribution he made to calypso?

Things like this get me sort of lost, how can that be misconstrued as a bad thing?
How can local calypsonians be complaining because a local calypsonian is being honored?
So what if Bag is in the competition this year does that in some way negate the contribution he has made to calypso over the years?
If the NCF were to honour Trinidadian calypsonian Shadow or wait till Machel came down here and honored him I would see why people would have a problem with that.

Red Plastic Bag would have revoloutionised Bajan calypso when he started in 1982, with hits such as “Mr Harding” “They Publish it” “can’t find me brother” and more.
He is a perennial calypso stalwart who not only could win a calypso crown back in 1982 but in 2007 and possibly 2008.
If Red Plastic Bag can’t be honored for the contribution he has made to calypso in this country, then who can be?

The pugnacious and vehement discourse which has erupted from NCF’s decision to honour “Bag” is a reminder of one of the songs he wrote that I mentioned above, the fact that some people don’t just “publish-it they “talk it” as well.

“8 Cent” Ronnie Morris CD Now Out

ronnie-morris-cd-cover-2008-email.jpg

Hello People, Today we will take a break from cussing and check out this new CD that has recently been released, Ronnie Morris sent me this photo and media write up which I will now publish for your entertainment edification.

My comments on above picture; what’s with the shirt off thing Ronnie? do you realise you do not have any muscles? It might help that when you go for a shirtless look like this that you have some muscularity within the vicinity, example look at this picture of 50 cents…

50-cent-pictures-75.jpg

See the difference? This is how you should look when you take your shirt off Ronnie, so as it relates to muscles if we were comparing you to 50 cents, we would have to call you 8 cents Ronnie!

While he might be 8 cents in muscularity, Ronnie is rich as it relates to talent, here is his overview of his CD Album which is now out, watch for an audio release on Boyce Voice soon..

“Ronnie Morris’ self-titled 6-track album is officially in stores islandwide! The album boasts new material from the young singer, including the Deepu-Panjwani-produced “More”, a lush remake of the DeBarge classic “In A Special Way” which he performed at the 2008 Barbados Music Awards, and the Brad Griffith and Sebastian Llegall-produced reggae scorcher “Send Me A Love”, which is sure to ignite regional radio. Also featured on the album are Deception, More Than Words and Remember When It Rained, all high-quality tracks in keeping with the output of this award-winning recording and performing artiste. The album is available islandwide for just $25! Go get your copy today!

And that’s the end of the release from 8 cent Ronnie…..

K B Kleen Apologises

My beloved Barbados. I am a tried and true professional in the entertainment business for over 25 years.

Last night at the tribute to Rihanna (On Feb 21st 2008)I realize that some of my comments and actions may have offended some of you. Comments that may have been misinterpreted to be disrespectful of rank or position could have been unclear.

Let me state that I have the highest regard for the Right Hon. David Thompson, the Prime Minister and leader of our great Nation and, at any point, would do nothing to destroy the relationship we have developed since our school days at Combermere.

Last night, just after the PM’s arrival I may have called him David due to fact that I am so familiar with him as an individual. However, when it came to formal introductions, I did indeed refer to the Prime Minister with clear and proper protocol and regard.

At this time , let me seize the opportunity to apologize to Barbados, special guests and our new Ambassador, Rihanna and anyone I may have offended.

“Rihanna eats her own cake even if you are Chris Brown”

I met a lady yesterday who screamed at me “Boyce Voice yuh Rihanna Freak!”If you check almost all the stories on the site right now are about Rihanna, and for good reason too.

Plus out of the 10 most popular posts I have written 7 were on Rihanna including my famous Exclusive Interview with Rihanna which is my number one most read post.
I tried to get close to Rihanna recently for another interview but apparently security had been warned and I was apprehended, that’s why I had Ingrid taking pictures.
I also tried to be included in the airport welcoming party but was denied access by event organiser Phil Philips, acting no doubt under advice from Interpol, the FBI and Police Commissioner Darwin Dottin.

Despite these legal challenges, I endeavor to continue to pursue Rihanna disregarding the “stalking” charge which was recently made against me.

I felt sorry for her being accompanied by people like Chris Brown when I know she would prefer to be with the Boyce. Enough said!

Tomorrow I will be dropping a Hot story that will not be about Rihanna but about new developments in the local cultural industry. LOG ON THEN…

Want to thank all of you for logging on and making yesterday the highest number of hits since we have been running Boyce Voice.
