All Hail Mr. Hal Linton!
It’s good to finally seeing a Bajan male finally making impact internationally, I read in the media of Evan Rogers who discovered Rihanna now has his own label “Syndicated Rhythm Production”.
 Rogers also stated it’s the Barbadians he has signed to his label that is making him a force to be reckoned with in the international world. Those artistes would be superstar Rihanna, Shontelle Layne and now Hal Linton.
Hal would have been his most recent addition and Rogers said there is extreme interest in him from music industry executives.

Linton has already been a winner four times at our Barbados Music Awards, Song of the year, best new artiste, song Writer of the year and R and B single of the year. The song that put him on the map is “Cardiac Arrest” which we are featuring below.

Hal Linton was one of the talented males I mentioned that was deserving of world wide recognition.
In fact now that I think, it’s probably Boyce Voice that brought the attention of the world to Hal.

Is Rihanna Pregnant?

Rumors have started to swirl that Rihanna is pregnant–which is entirely unsurprising. Belly bumps are fuel enough, so actual fainting is like a high alert in the celebrity world! MediaTakeOut.com had an interesting scoop that a certain celebrity weekly mag (or maybe a couple) will be releasing news of Rihanna’s pregnancy, and guess what?
“It gets better. According to one of our snitches at the mag, Rihanna is reportedly planning on keeping the child.”
It’s also rumored that Rihanna and her boyfriend Chris Brown will be headed to Barbados next week to visit Rihanna’s parents, which could very possibly mean that a baby announcement is on the way.

The American media are so gipsy then. They worst than Pearlie and Sousie put together,  They make our Pudding and Souse gossip column look tame, at least that “souse” drop hints with out being blatant.
It must be so horrible for Rihanna to live under a microscope where every aspect of your is displayed in public and a malicious media.They are not even sure if there is even a baby but reporting that Rihanna is planning to keep it.  If they were to feel she was planning to get rid of it they would report that too.
I read an article where they discussed the dress Rihanna was wearing at the last awards might be to hide her delicate condition and the camera would not go in for a close front shot of her on purpose.
The Media already know the father of Rihanna’s hypothetical baby is Chris Brown and when he is traveling to Barbados to give the news to the Grand Parents.

They need to get a life, or go home and check and see who is pregnant by their own house and who the father is.

Rihanna Fenty continues to take the world by storm, bringing honor and credit to Barbados and Combermere School!

I know there are some people that don’t like to hear combermere but I will get back to that, let’s not digress.

Lady Fenty’s latest success is the winning two awards at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles last weekend,
Favorite Female Artiste in the soul/R&B category in addition to Favorite Female Artiste in Pop/Rock.

In February there were some persons who sought to cast aspersions on the act of government honoring Rihanna making her a Barbados Ambassador, since then her achievements continue to more than justify this title.

Even as we go into independence with Rihanna’s latest win we should be recognizing and celebrating her latest accolade as well.

Because of Rihanna I now see Barbados being mentioned in international web articles that would not have spit on us before.
Also I am seeing mention of Combermere as well, of course you know that was always a great school, but it is now being officially recongnised internationally as the school that Rihanna attended.
Do you hear Beyonce saying what school she attended or Alicia Keys? No! But you hear that Rihanna went to Combermere that is why we are so freaking great!

So Congrats to Lady Rihanna Fenty (and I use lady deliberately) on her latest international win and for continuing to bring credit to our nation.

Tomorrow I will be cursing American Media on Rihanna’s behalf, log on then!!

I am often in a quandary when I read the drivel which masquerades as entertainment news which pretty much equates to just old fashion “lick mout” gossip.

And the latest news now out, Am I suppose to care that Britney spears has lost her child visitation rights?
Or how much times she has been in rehab and how her father is now taking care of her again?

I would like some one to explain to me why I should care,
When I read entertainment news I like to read about the box office business generated by a movie or the behind the scenes of the making of the movie, not who the star is bonking might be bonking or is about to bonk.
If that is what you are interests you, you need to get a life!

Or that she and Chris Brown are supposed to be engaged? …
……….Wait a minute, I do care about that!

Guyanese Timeka and our Rihanna in Jamaica

Here is a bio on Timeka Marshall hailing from Guyana, she is one on the artistes represented by Pyramid Entertainment which is managed by the irresistible Santia Bradshaw. With the coming of CSME we need to know about our regional neighbours, so read on, you are not busy ..

Who would have thought that a simple jingle for a local company would be the start of a music career that seems destined for success? Well that is exactly how young Guyanese singer Timeka Marshall got her break. In 2006
a local telecommunications company staged a competition for their new jingle. Timeka entered and won. This became the springboard for recording her first R&B Single “We Should Separate”, which was released and quickly followed by the music video. Produced by Muzikmedia and shot on location in Jamaica both the track and the video gained popularity on the Caribbean music scene and held their own in heavy rotation on radio and television stations across the region.

Yet there was much more to unearth in the way of Timeka’s talents. Timeka After performing “We Should Celebrate” on the Guyanese entertainment circuit to appreciative audiences,Timeka was keen to cultivate her songwriting talents and attended the Barbados Music seminar and Showcase in February 2007. There she blew regional and international music executives away with her obvious talent and enticing sensuality. With just one performance of the gritty dancehall track “Nothing At All”, Timeka was immediately signed to a developmental deal which would see her working with some of Jamaica’s top producers.Timeka’s commitment and hard work in the months she spent in Jamaica has paid off, with the release of two singles – “Free” and “Ice-cream Boy” (a fresh taste on a classic) produced by international reggae producer
Clive Hunt and his team of talented musicians. Her relationship with Jamaica and the treasure trove of musicians, directors and producers there continues to grow. As soon as the two singles were in heavy rotation on Guyana’s airwaves, Timeka returned to Jamaica to continue recording. This dedication is a clear indication of her intention
to take her music throughout the region and beyond and add to the growing list of Caribbean artistes who now rank among the international superstars of the entertainment industry.

Guess who was selected to be the local Host of BET Jazz while they were filming recently in Barbados? none other than our own Ingrid Holder.
Ingrid will now be seen on Black Entertainment Television’s Jazz network internationally highlighting Barbados and its artistes. We at Boyce Voice are proud of ingrid and her great acheivements and know she will continue to excell in all her endeavors.
She had best remember that it was us including you Boyce Voice readers who first bigged her up from when she went down to cover Rihanna at the Grammy’s, if she forgets us now she is goinmg international we will have to buse her.

Before you get all excited and telephone Gabby with the news that Boyce say he gun curse he, the opening you see above are lyrics from Gabby’s own calypso “Who Gabby think he is”.

Which brings me to my point, Gabby seems to think he will be Cultural Ambassador forever. Anthony “Gabby” Carter is more than my friend, he gave Madd comedians our first big break performing in Battleground calypso tent when we had just left Combermere in 1982. I have a tremendous respect for Gabby; you need to read one of my first posts “What the ass is a cultural ambassador anyways?” where I lamented that Gabby was not given enough real power and authority to go with his prestigious title.

However, the Government has changed and protocol dictates that all ambassadors and boards of directors appointed by the previous administration make their resignations available to the new government. I read in the newspaper where ambassadors from New York, United Kingdom, Africa and Timbuktu have sent in their resignation letters. But not Gabby. He is maintaining his position and waiting to see what the new Minister will do.

So all the remarks wunna drop, saying that Gabby like he “switch sides” and how he sing pun de DLP celebration motorcade, even Kidsite throw a song punch at he at the Rihanna tribute show. But Gabby is not budging.

Gabby, Me and Blood at Barbados Music Awards last year…. I told you we are friends

My beloved Barbados. I am a tried and true professional in the entertainment business for over 25 years.

Last night at the tribute to Rihanna (On Feb 21st 2008)I realize that some of my comments and actions may have offended some of you. Comments that may have been misinterpreted to be disrespectful of rank or position could have been unclear.

Let me state that I have the highest regard for the Right Hon. David Thompson, the Prime Minister and leader of our great Nation and, at any point, would do nothing to destroy the relationship we have developed since our school days at Combermere.

Last night, just after the PM’s arrival I may have called him David due to fact that I am so familiar with him as an individual. However, when it came to formal introductions, I did indeed refer to the Prime Minister with clear and proper protocol and regard.

At this time , let me seize the opportunity to apologize to Barbados, special guests and our new Ambassador, Rihanna and anyone I may have offended.
