Boyce voice recently celebrated the milestone of achieving our 100,000th page load. A page load happens when ever you click to read a post on this site so it is a good way of measuring readership stats. We are only able to achieve this because of people like you, who keep logging on all the damn time.

Boyce Voice first started in April and continued through Crop Over. As usual, because of the NCF and Government, we had a festival verdant with controversial issues and the lies that we could expose. The challenge was that after Crop Over, what would Boyce Voice be saying?

Well we are proud to say that we have been able to meet that challenge head on…

As you peruse our archives you’ll see that we have dealt with diverse subject matters, from the reviewing of the latest movies, classic movies, Dickey books, racial issues, gay issues, President Bush, girls who cover themselves in chocolate, curse government and your favorite subject, Rihanna. Apart from our Rihanna articles which you read constantly, our most read and commented story has been Admiral Does Not Like Newkey!

Our diverse topics have resulted in the higher page loads than we even had during Crop Over. That’s quite an achievement for a blog that was expected to be only Crop Over oriented. Regardless of the topics we address we have constantly maintained a Bajan perspective in order to remain unique.

Notice I keep saying “we”. Well “we” includes the site administrator and editor – Darron Grant. I like to call his name some times so the government can know about him too and not blame me for everything. Where do we go from here? Well I don’t know about you but when I finish this I am getting some sleep as it is 3 am..

But seriously, Boyce Voice has some big plans in store for you. From November look for a brand new look, an improved site with all sorts of fancy features that Darron is working on. The site will be even more attractive almost as good looking as me.

All hail our own Bajan Superstar Queen Rihanna! who brought home the gold Sunday night at the MTV music awards held in last Vegas. Rihanna won the top MTV prizes, video of the year, for her smash hit Umbrella. That tune also won monster single of the year.

Boyce Voice would like to set the record straight that we think Rihanna Fenty is the greatest thing since slice bread, with cheese! Since I wrote the post about “Rihanna Ripping off Contone”, I noticed quite a bit of people have been giving me nasty looks and cut eyes. Boyce Voice reader Meshaka responded warning me “don’t cause no scandal” to that girl name. Then my friend Sue from all the way in England sent me an email saying I need to lay off Rihanna! So I need to set the record straight before some body out my lights.

To my mind Rihanna could probably be considered the greatest Bajan entertainer who has ever lived based on her accomplishments so far. By international standards she aint no pushover as indicated by the major MTV awards she won on Sunday. We Bajans especially should be grateful for the exposure that Rihanna brings to our island, in her online biography it read Rihanna was born in “Saint Michael” Barbados, so even our parishes are getting international mentions now.

While the exposure that Rupee, Alison Hinds, Edwin, Krosfyah and Square One cannot go unrecognized, with out doubt Rihanna has taken us to a whole new level. So don’t mind my jokes I will like to repeat reiterate and recapitulate that I like Rihanna badd! she is the greatest thing since slice bread & cheese, caviar and conch. Congrats again on her MTV success and making Barbados proud.

STOP THE PRESSES! The following is another Boyce Voice Rihanna Exclusive!

Rihanna’s latest release Shut Up and Drive is a carbon copy of Bajan calypsonian Contone’s 2006 hit “My Car Brek Down”!Yes that is right! From the time I saw the Rihanna’s music video I recognized the similarity between the songs and you will too. The “Shut Up and Drive video” starts with Rihanna under the hood of a car that has obviously “broken down”. A similar theme to what contone was singing last year. If you listen to the song Shut Up and Drive you also hear an uncanny likeness to the song penned by “2006 Peoples Monarch” Contone.

Rihanna chorus is going “shut up and drive” which is pratically the same as Contone’s lyrics but instead of saying “brek down” she is saying the opposite which makes it just about the same. Rihanna might be able to fool the Americans and JayZ and them, but she caan fool we bajans.

I had Darron Grant, an experienced music producer listen to the songs to see if he could pick up the simalarity, he disagreed and said it sounded like two completely different songs. I realised then he was an idiot that was bewitched behind Rihanna and was part of the conspiracy to rob Contone.
Any maddman can hear It is a carbon copy.

Boyce Voice spoke to Contone to get his feelings on the matter
And heres his comment; “The thing bout it Mr Boyce is I don’t mind Rihanna ripping off my song cause I know them big international writers can’t write as good as me, but wha hurt me is that she din even give me a lil piece in de video, I could see my self “holding Rihanna dress easy” and any thing else she did want me to hold.”

The reason you are not seeing this story in the international press or the other blogs yet is that the other news people are not as fast as Boyce Voice.

I mean real real badd too! I think that Rihanna is the greatest thing in the world since slice bread with cheese. She has every thing going for her, she is beautiful she is talented she is patriotic and she went to Combermere School!
What more could you want?

I read where Rihanna said that there is a minority of Barbadians who she feels do not like her, I would like Rihanna to know that a majority of Barbadians like she bad. (spoken in Bajan so Rihanna would understand but not her manager Evans) AND the minority too.

The minority of people who say those petty things and drop remarks about Rihanna, that’s just how they are. They say the same things about Madd, Edwin, Alison, Nicholas Brancker, any one who achieves a certain level of success. You must learn to just ignore that minority and do your best. They are proud of you and just don’t know how to show it.

Bajans might not freak out over Rihanna like how the Americans do about their media stars. In the United States they idolise and worship their stars to a level that can sometimes lead to an obsession that sometimes turn tragic for their stars. In America you come across those “fan freaks” who sometimes start stalking the star and claim they have some personal connection with them.
That does not happen here in Barbados! The only person who receives messages from Rihanna over the tv set is me and she has personally invited me via her music videos under her umbrella several times but the high price of air travel keeps us apart. Along with that court order that I know Jayzee forced her to take out against me. anyways Rihanna is mine so you freaks stay away from from her!! Sorry I got carried away there….

As I was saying, Rihanna we appreciate what you do promoting Barbados through out the world, including our trident in your videos and thing.

So don’t mind the minority people with petty comments Rihanna, we Bajans like you badd. I know I do, especially since you went to Combermere!
