Happy Rihanna Day; Her Grammy Performance

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

I heard radio station CBC 98.1 FM promoting today as “Rihanna Day”! I thought it was not only a cool idea but appropriate as well as she is flying into Barbados today to attend the special tribute show that is being put on in her honor.

It is note worthy that “Rihanna Day” is also being sponsored by A & B Sounds which is an example of a local entertainment corporate entity coming to the fore in support of a fellow artiste. Way to go Norman Barrow of A & B!

Therefore, in keeping with the spirit of the Rihanna Day, Boyce Voice presents Rihanna’s performance at the 2008 Grammy awards. Here she is performing with “The Time” of the 1984 Prince movie “Purple Rain”.

I like the concept of merging a classic group like “The Time” with a current star like Rihanna, that was an interesting combination, Click and watch it again and watch for when she shouts “Barbados we got one!”

Comments on Rihanna; The Good the Bad and the Bajan

I have been checking some of the comments on Rihanna’s Grammy performance which were made on some of the international Internet sites. Some of them contain some very negative and disparaging remarks on our Rihanna.

I had heard about nasty comments made about Rihanna on the net, and expressed surprise as ALL of the comments on Boyce Voice were complimentary and supportive. Even Ian Bourne’s comment was not really negative and he was cussed out by Skyblu anyway.

So I hope Rihanna takes note of the contrasting comments between Bajan Boyce Voice and the other international sites. I have heard Rihanna say she does not get the enough support from Barbadians. When you look at the contrasting comments on Boyce Voice and some of the other sites it tells a different story. Bajans are definitely behind Rihanna 100%. Also we must mention the many poetic tributes to Rihanna written by Khadji which you can find on Boyce Voice and his poet corner site.

There is word circulating of Rihanna performing in a planned celebration show that is to happen in Barbados on Thursday. Boyce Voice will update you on details later.

Mr. Dale’s Soca Junkie Music Video

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

I mentioned earlier the flirtatious Soca Junkie video and here it is, Do you notice how all these Pyramid Entertainment music videos are directed by Jay Will…?

I like the trade mark he puts at the end of them, Director Alfred Hitchcock’s trade mark was doing brief cameo’s in his movies, John Woo’s trademark is Doves flying, Jay Will’s  is “Game Over” at the end of all his productions, and of course the sexy women dancing like you will see with Ex Banks girl Saskia in this video “Soca Junkie”  Intro Over…

Talking Videos with Santia Bradshaw

santia-video.jpg

Ran into Santia Bradshaw in last month, well I ran into her at her office which is where you would expect her to be. Santia gave me sneak peek at some new music videos which has since been released. In case you don’t know who Santia is like you have been living in a cave or something. She is the head of Pyramid Entertainment which manages Peter Ram, Biggie Irie, Mr Dale and Hypa Dog LiL Rick. Those are some of the biggest names on the Barbados entertainment scene which makes Santia some what of a entertainment power broker.

Santia was also my partner in crime back in the infamous “Crop Over music boycott controversy back in 2004. Santia give me a preview of Peter Ram’s pumpin and Mr Dales “Soca Junkie” Music Videos, Boy are those videos hot, they touched my heart in a deep and meaningful way. Talk bout sexy girls I was especially touched by the soca junkie video which features ex banks calendar girl saskia in a sexy nurse’s outfit. You remember Saskia from our famous “I want to dip my cherry in your Chocolate post”? Check her out as Nurse Saskia in Soca Junkie, you will get sick and need medical attention immediately.

If you thought “Girls Gone Wild” was something wait till u see these videos. Of course we are featuring these videos right here on Boyce Voice.

From Roll to Shontelligence

shontelle-blog-pic.jpg

Shontelle Performing with Natahlee in Bacchanal Time 2005

“Shontelligence” is the name of the album. Shontelle is the name of the girl. Ms Shontelle Layne is the name of the next Bajan artiste being positioned to make it big in the international music scene with her soon to be released album “Shontelligence”.

That is a damn interesting name for an album which was titled to reflect her intelligence and musical ability. Shontelle is being managed by Evan Rogers of Syndicated Rhythm Productions who introduced Rihanna to the world. Local Bajan manager Sonia Mullins of Starchild still remains involved in Shontelle’s management process which shows that she is not forgetting her roots.

Just two years ago we (Madd) had Shontelle performing with Bacchanal Time Calypso tent with Natahlee doing the song “colours”, so we would like to believe we discovered her first. Shontelle will now have the opportunity to be “proud to be a Bajan and represent her nation” just like the lyrics from the song “Colours” she wrote and performed in Bacchanal Time.

Today we present another song that Shontelle wrote but Alison Hinds performed that has been redone, Here’s Shontelle and Rihanna and this guy group (can u guess who they are?) performing “Roll”

Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton (lol)

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Do you see “laugh out loud” that is in the title of this post?

That was placed there by Darron because I sent him this “Kenny and-Dolly video to post on Boyce Voice.

He obviously does not know how big Kenny and Dolly is bout here in the Caribbean. They are not as big as Madd mind you, but they have quite a bit of standing as it relates to Christmas.

From when we had the Rue Rue retail music store back in the 90’s Kenny and Dolly “Once upon a Christmas CD” was always a hot seller.

So today Christmas, Boyce Voice is presenting the video for you too view.

I think what also has Darron is the mention of the Christ child and the religious symbolism epitomized in the presentation.

Between you and me, I think Darron is evil, like Santa Claus…

I wished you Merry Christmas yesterday so I will not do it again today, get a life…

Bajan Movie on DVD

hit-for-six-poster-blog-pic.jpg

Remember when I blogged about the bajan movie Hit for Six when Boyce Voice first started months ago? I had asked you to curse Darron as he had caused me to leave the cinema early and missed the climatic ending of the movie. As you know missing the climax is never a good thing and so now I have a chance to correct it. The glorious news is “Hit for Six” is now available on DVD for you to own and watch in the comfort of your own home. So if you missed it here’s a chance to view it or if you enjoyed it here’s a chance to watch it again and again.

I always wondered why this local production was not released on DVD earlier. If you follow the American trend as it relates to the extracting from a movie every cent of profit, as soon as a movie finishes its run in the cinema it is released on DVD to continue generating revenue. Waiting until the Christmas period to release is probably good as people are now out shopping like Madd and would be able to buy “Hit for Six” as a gift. Make sure and buy the legal DVD and not from that pirate lady in the bus stand!

*A Boyce Voice Xmas tip that you can utilize is: you can buy the DVD, watch it then reseal it in plastic and give as a gift and the recipient would not be the wiser. It’s not like when you watch it you would take something off it. Take that as a “Tip for Six”.

Lil Rick; Girls Gone Wild Music Video

Lil Ricks first music video features Girls going wild for real!

U have to compliment his management Santia and the Pyramid Entertainment Group on this spectacular wuck up video production.

Girls Gone Wild is a video which touches your heart and other places, you will want to watch it again and again.

I find the performance of the women to be captivating and intense, the dancer on the cycle seems to be so engaged in her task she is fascinating.

Most Men and certain women will be titillated by the gyrations featured in “Girls Gone Wild” Click on Link below to view..
